Groceries, Banana Cake & Bingo

John found out today that the part for the truck did NOT come in. Bummer!!  It looks like we will be extending our stay here a little longer.  Our groceries were running low so one of the work kampers gave us a ride into town to shop at Wal-mart.  He had to make a Wal-mart run himself and was happy to help us.  Thanks Earl for helping us out.

I had some real ripe bananas so I decided I would bake some miniature banana cakes this morning.  Yum Yum!

Tonight we went over to the clubhouse to play bingo. The other two couples (our neighbors) who we were sitting with us, both won.  We didn’t win but we came close a time or two.  After bingo we had the ice cream social.  It is hard to pass up ice cream.

Fred likes to come over and stare at me when I get on the computer.   He met several new RVers on his walk today and enjoyed getting his ears rubbed. 

Tomorrow night the park has a dinner followed by entertainment.  The man who is coming to play the piano tomorrow night is blind.  Several of the work kampers told us that he has played in this area for years and is a wonderful musician.  We are looking forward to hearing him play.

New Neighbors

Another warm sunny day today.  We got some household chores done today. 

This afternoon we went over and met the new neighbors.  Both couples are retired and are from Kansas and are here until Sunday.  We all sat and visited for a while until it was time to go in for dinner.  They were very interesting and had funny stories to tell.

Tonight we stayed in and watched some new TV shows.

We hope the part comes in tomorrow for the truck so they can start working on it.

Woke up around 9:00 this morning to 58 degrees.  It was mostly cloudy with light sprinkles and temperatures in the low 70s.

The truck shop called this morning to let us know it is definitely the turbo charger and that the part should be here by Friday.  I guess you could say we are stimulating the economy with all the towing and repair bills. LOL   We are glad it was nothing more serious.

We had reservations to stay at this park for a week so we might have to add a day or two depending on how long the repairs take. 

Our next door neighbors will be leaving Friday and have offered to take us into town for a grocery run before they leave.  We really appreciate that and will probably have to take them up on the offer.  John and I stopped in at the office on our afternoon walk to see what was on the activity calendar for the week.  As we were leaving a man asked us if we needed to go to town for something to eat for supper.  I guess our fellow RVers have been in our shoes a time or two.  Their help is greatly appreciated.

Broke down on I-135

Up and out of Alma, NE by 10:30.  Our day was going great until just South of Salina, KS on I- 135.  John and I heard a noise and thought it might be a tire so he pulled over and we got out and walked around the RV and saw nothing wrong.  We got back in and headed off again when the truck lost power then started blowing white smoke.  This was NOT good.  John thinks it might be a turbo.  After several calls and hours waiting help arrives. Yeah!!

Here we sit watching the traffic go by and waiting on the tow trucks.  The whole time we sat here we never saw a police car come by.

Yeah!  Help arrives at last.  This is the tow truck for the Freightliner.

And we’re off to the truck repair shop then to the campground.

Finally….here we are at Spring Lake Campground in Halstead, KS.

Tomorrow we hope to get word on the truck.  The towing company guys were very helpful.

While we were getting set up the couple from next door came over to introduce themselves.  They recognized John and I from working on the parking team at the Escapees Rally in Gillette, WY.  Small world, huh?

What a day?  We are tired tonight and hope tomorrow brings good news.

Sunset on Harlan Lake

Another nice warm sunny day today.  We had a high of 75 degrees.  I am liking this weather. 

I finally got pictures of the sun setting on Harlan Lake. 

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  Our destination will be Halstead, KS.

Walk in the park and 9 holes of golf.

We had great weather today…..warm and sunny.   I think it actually got up to 74 degrees.  This morning we enjoyed a 1 1/2 mile walk around the park.

Off we go.

Back home again.

When we got home Fred went straight for the couch.  I think the walk tired him out.

After lunch I went with John to the local golf course to watch him play nine holes. 

He shot a 48 out on a 36 and had a good time.  I got to drive him around in the golf cart.

Happy Birthday William

Today is cousin Tricia’s son William's 13th birthday.  Happy Birthday to William.

Woke up to 58 degrees which is quite nice.  The sun didn’t come out today.  It stayed overcast and cloudy but at least it was warmer weather.  I can live with that.

John took advantage of the nice weather and washed and waxed the RV today.   I cleaned out the dresser drawers and re-arranged a few things.  Other than that we just chilled out at home.

On the road again.

Up this morning to a cold 38 degrees.  Glad we are moving on to a warmer place today.  Mac and Netters came over to say “see you later” before heading out.  We have enjoyed our time with them and look forward to meeting up with them again in October.

We left shortly after they did and stopped for a grocery run in North Platte then ventured on to our destination at a COE park in Alma, NE.

Dinner at Mac and Netters.

Another cold rainy day today. Uck!  It was dreary just like a winter’s day so we stayed inside all day. 

Tonight we went over to Mac and Netters for dinner.  We had beef tips over noodles, corn casserole, lemon squares and brownies.  Everything was delicious.  Thanks Mac and Netters for a wonderful meal.

Tomorrow will travel day for all of us.  Mac and  Netters will be going to another destination so we will be saying “see you later” for now.   We have enjoyed traveling with them and hope to meet up again in October.

Hopefully our next destination will be warmer.

Today is our son, Robert’s 29th birthday. Happy Birthday Robert. We love you son.

Woke up to 44 degrees. That is just too cold for me. I am not a happy camper. LOL It is supposed to warm up to the mid 80s on Friday…..the day we leave here.

It rained during the night and sprinkled a little today. The sun did manage to come out a for a little while this afternoon. I think the high today was 54 degrees. Today we just chilled out at home and got a few household chores done.

Hopefully we will get in some sightseeing tomorrow.
