Home

Having problems with posting from iPad to blogger.  This is all Bridget can get typed before she is kicked out of blogger. "We have been busy since our last post."  We have searched everywhere to find a solution but haven't yet.  Any help would be appreciated.

Meeting Elaine & Rick and Crossing the Border.

After leaving Church Point we traveled onto Advocate Harbour and stayed at ADDA Fundy RV Park.  It was full hook up with 30 AMP.  There were a couple other RVs in the park so it was very quiet.  I guess everything is winding down for the season.

While sightseeing in the area we stopped at Cape d' Or to photograph the lighthouse.

The lighthouse, restaurant and Inn at the bottom of the hill.

When you arrive there is a sign posted at the top of the hill that says "walk down".   It is a beautiful place but the walk down is very steep and rocky.  It would be very difficult for persons with leg or knee problems to make the trek down.  The walk back up the steep hill was brutal for me.
John at the bottom.  Here are a few pictures of the scenery surrounding the lighthouse.

On Thursday, September 22nd we traveled on to Moncton to meet Elaine and Rick Cochrane.  We have been corresponding with Elaine on Facebook and had made plans to meet her and her husband Rick. We actually parked at their place in town.  It was so great to meet them in person.  We enjoyed our visit with them and hope to meet them down the road real soon.  A huge thank you to them for a wonderful dinner, a place to park and a fantastic visit.

Rick and Elaine.

The next day we made our way across the border and back into the US.  We have enjoyed our adventures in Canada and plan to return again one day.  We overnighted at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston, Maine.  They have RV parking in the back parking lot of the hotel grounds...30 AMP and only 15 dollars.   Thanks Elaine for the tip about the Ramada.

Yesterday we traveled on to Tuxbury Pond RV Resort in South Hampton, New Hampshire.  We actually have 50A FHU!    Yeah!!!

Our site.

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  We will be stopping in at Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge for a few days.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

Next stop Lunenburg.

September 12th we continued on to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. While we were here we took a cruise on the Bluenose II and visited Mahone Bay and Blue Rocks.  There is so much to see in Nova Scotia that you could literally spend a couple months or more.  We have tried to pick out the main highlights or "sights to see" and do those since we have limited time here.

Lunenburg is where the Bluenose II is docked now.  John and I and Steve and Sandy took a two hour cruise on the Bluenose II on the 14th.  The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the scenery.

Here we are getting ready to board.

Steve enjoying the view.
A view from the ship as we were heading out.
This is the lighthouse at Battery Cove.  We passed it going out.
The crew taking one of the sails down.

The next day we were off to Mahone Bay to sightsee.  It is a nice little town with shops and restaurants and a nice view.  We parked and walked both sides of the Main Street then had lunch at a place called "Oh My Cod".  Their specialty is, of course, sea food but they offer a variety of entrees.  The food and service were both great.

Steve taking photos.
John and Steve both got burgers.   That is some burger.

Our next place to sightsee was Blue Rocks.  Blue Rocks is known as one of the best kayaking spots on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.  It is a fishing village with blue slate rocks on the edge of the ocean which attracts many artists and photographers.

The next day we ventured over to Chester to visit the shops and check the Fo'c'sle Tavern.  The Fo'c'sle is the oldest tavern in Nova Scotia dating back to 1764.

John having a cold one.
Steve checking out the art on the walls.

The next morning it was time to head off to our next destination, Church Point.  We said our "see ya laters" to Steve and Sandy as they were heading in another direction.  We have enjoyed traveling with them and sharing a part of our Canada experience with them.  Hope to see them again down the road real soon.

Ruby and Yoda came to say "see ya later".
This was our selfie.  It was very windy that morining.

We arrived at Belle Baie Campground in Church Point, Nova Scotia on September 14th.   Our site is in the back right on the water.  We can actually watch the tides come and go.

Our site.

While here we have visited the Nova Scotia Firefighter's Museum in Yarmouth and the town of Digby.

The museum is well laid out with lots to see.

Yesterday we drove over to Digby to look around.

John saw this lighthouse on the way to Digby so we stopped to get pictures.

By the time we arrived it was time to find some lunch. There are lots of options in Digby.  We chose Shoreline Restaurant.

We both had the grilled scallop kabob.  It was yummy.....and the view
was very nice.

There was also a lighthouse right up the walkway from the restaurant.

Of course I had to get a picture.  I just love lighthouses.

It has rained all day today so we stayed in.  We will be traveling tomorrow.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

Traveling on to Spry Bay and Peggy's Cove.

On Wednesday, September 8th we left Baddeck, NS behind and traveled on to Spry Bay, NS to visit with Mark and Devon.  Back in 2014 while John and I were volunteering as campground hosts at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, GA we met a man named Mark who was passing through making his way home. We were grilling out and Mark came by to inquire about the closest grocery store.  The closest one was at least 14 miles away.  We told him if he needed anything for dinner he might as well join us .....we had plenty.  We shared travels stories.  John mentioned one of the items on his bucket list was visiting Nova Scotia.  It just so happens Mark has a place in Nova Scotia.  He gave us one of his cards and said to let him know when we were coming.  Well this was our year to visit Nova Scotia.  We arrived at Marks place in Spry Bay on September 8th and met his wonderful wife Devon and their two dogs, Chili and Caper.

The sunset off of their deck.

On our last night there Mark cooked lobster for everyone.  It was the best lobster we have ever had.

The dinner table.

Thank you Mark and Devon the delicious meals and wonderful hospitality.  We enjoyed our visit very much.

Friday morning we left Spry Bay and made our way to King Neptune RV Park in Peggy's Cove.  We were joined there by our friends Steve and Sandy.

Sunset from our RV site.

The next morning we were off to Peggy's Cove to see the lighthouse.

A view of the rocks from the lighthouse.  There have been a number of people who have been swept away on these rocks when standing too close to the brown and black areas on the rocks.

A selfie of Sandy and I.

As we were heading back to the campground we visited the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial.  The memorial honors those who perished when Flight 111 crashed on September 2, 1998.

Last night, since the weather was so nice, we grilled pork chops and chilled out.

Steve and Sandy's dogs Ruby and Yoda chilling out.

Today our adventure included a visit to the Maritime Musuem in Halifax.  Wow, this place is packed with history and artifacts.  Everything was nicely laid out.

The Acadia.
A view of the lighthouse from the boardwalk.  It was a little foggy today.
Before heading back to the campground we stopped at Starbucks.  John went outside to walk around for a bit then called to tell us to look up.  He was watching us from the window above.

Late this afternoon we went back to Peggy's Cove for one last look at the lighthouse.  It was very windy and foggy so the pictures look quite different.

Tomorrow is a travel day for us.  Our destination will be Lunenburg.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.
