Sod Done

Today started out at 6am with the clock going off, scheduled to work the mall 7-3 but got off early to lay sod, how exciting. The sod was delivered by Mitchell at 8:30 which is when I came home. Bridget and I had the two pallets of sod down by 12:30 and the sprinkler running. Plan was to grill this evening but the burners on my grill have bit the dust so I used our cast iron griddle/grill on the stove top. Burgers and steaks, we ate the burgers tonight and will have the steaks tomorrow.

OOOPS

After getting home I hooked the truck up to the trailer to haul it out to Jenksy's so Mitchell can get in Monday to start the backyard makeover. When I was unhooking the trailer I saw that the trailer hit and bent the side rail of the truck bed, still have not figured out how that happened nor do I know when it happened. Made a trip to the drug store and the chiropractor then off to the mall working 3-11.

Still Hot

After breakfast at 8:00 I got ready to go to the FD to work 9-1:30 so Kipp could go to a funeral. When I got home Bridget was cleaning out the closet in one of the bedrooms. I called YJ (FD) to see if he was still coming by to look at some sheet rock repair work. He will be here Tuesday to start the work. I am having to water the yard as it is dry as a bone, temps have been in the low 100's. Normal mid 90's will be back next week.

Getting The House Ready

The link in yesterdays post now works thanks to Al. He emailed me directions, after working with it a few minutes I got it figured out. Today was hot, yesterday and today reached 100 degrees, cool front coming through, Fridays high is only 96. Got home from FD and started trimming tree limbs in the front yard (Realtor suggested) and hauling them to the street for pick up. Made a trip to Lowes to pick up some electrical supplies, I am moving the trailer plug closer to the trailer. Also I have a Koi pond in the back yard that I am having removed and the backyard graded so I can lay sod (Realtor suggested). I will take the trailer to Jenksy's Friday, John Mitchell (FD) will be coming over Monday for the above backyard work. He will haul in dirt for the backyard and crushed rock around the trailer site. In the backyard all I will have left is the tree limb trimming, hope to get that done Friday or Saturday. Front yard I just have to cut back the shrubs and it will be done. Inside painting starts July 10th and after that it will go on the market.

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

I got up at 8:30, Bridget was up at 7. Bridget made eggs sandwiches for breakfast and she got the trailer road ready on the inside and I got the outside ready. We were on the road by 11. Stop for fuel and lunch. Bridget makes sandwiches before we leave and puts them in the refrigerator which shortens our stop time. Got home and unloaded the trailer and she took me out for a fathers day dinner at PF Chang's. We have leftovers for lunch.

See You Later

Breakfast at 9:30 was eggs, blueberry pancakes, sausage and OJ/coffee/tea. After breakfast we headed over to Renee's house to load up to go to the park. We stayed at the park about 2 hours as folks came by for Jeremiah's birthday party. After the party in the park we went back to Renee's to chill for a while then grilled out again. About 9pm we said our "see you later"s and headed to our respective sleeping locations. We have an all interstate 6 hour drive tomorrow.

Suprise Shannon

Up at 5:30 this morning heading to Marietta, GA for our last stop before heading home. We were going to a birthday lunch party at noon for Renee's grandson's first birthday. We arrived at the campground at 11:10 and were on our way to Chick-Fil-A at 11:40. We arrived at the Chick-Fil-A just before noon. Nobody here, hhunh. Called Renee and found out they were at the Chick-Fil-A 1.5 miles from the campground next to the Walmart. We were at the Chick-Fil-A 1.5 miles from Renee's house next to the Walmart. We meet back at Renee's house. We were surprising Shannon, my niece we haven't seen since Sept. 2006. We told her we would not be able to make it because of all the birthday parties back in Mississippi. That afternoon we grilled chicken dogs, hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken at Renee's then went to the neighborhood pool. Back at the campground with Savannah and Lester, Shannon's kids, they will be spending the night with us.

Green Mountain RV Resort

We arrived after a beautiful and uneventful drive. Two stops, one for fuel and a lunch stop at a rest area. We made a Walmart trip on arrival to restock and refuel. Back at the campground I started the grill and made up some bacon burgers for supper, they were yummy. Tomorrow is another travel day on our way back home.

Lake Izac

Today it struggled to get to 69 degrees, it was 64 when we got up this morning at 8:15. I made blueberry pancakes and sausage with coffee and OJ. It has rained all day so we stayed inside except for taking Fred out a few times. Tonight we will be going to the restaurant at the RV park. It is called Lake Izac Tavern and located on Lake Izac. When we first got here and Bridget took Fred walking she saw a brochure for crab cake sandwiches at the Tavern so that will be supper. Tomorrow is travel day, about 330 miles to our next stop.

Arlington National Cemetery

Slept in til 8:30 and had breakfast. We got ready and headed into Arlington National Cemetery which is where my father is buried. Arlington is a beautiful cemetery, the crew is constantly working on the grounds and they do a wonderful job. We walked over to The Tomb of the Unknowns as they started the changing of the guard. That is a sight to see. We were pressed for time as the lot we were in closed at 3p and it was 2:30 and we had to walk back. Left out heading back to the RV and I must say that the GPS is not handy in DC as many of the streets and intersections are next to each other so when it said turn right I always picked the wrong right. After 15 minutes of wrong turns we were on our way back. We stopped at a BBQ joint just out of DC, it was good but not as good as Buz and Ned's. Back at the campground we walked around then I took a short nap while Bridget read. Upon awakening we rode around the RV park taking pictures. I still can't upload pictures, I'm guessing it has something to do with the killa bits, megga bits or whatever bits it takes to upload pics I don't have enough of. Today is my father-in-law Bob's birthday and also my niece's birthday, Happy Birthday Bob and MB, love ya.

Bob And Molly

Neither of us could sleep last night for some reason so we both stayed up until 1am playing Bejeweled on Face Book. We woke up at 10 am and had breakfast and I was about to call Bob and Molly when the phone rang. It was Molly and they were on their way down to get some doctors appointments out of the way. We set up a 3pm, late lunch at Mimi's in Short Pump, VA. We had a great visit and a delicious meal. We look forward to meeting up with them down the road. They are both wonderful people that we haven't seen since the June 08 RV Dreams Rally in Branson. Bridget and I left after hand shakes and hugs and went to Trader Joe's, World Market, Tom Leonard's Farmers Market looking for hot sauce for Robert. Bridget was wanting to pick up a book so we made a trip to Border's Book Store then back to the RV Park. That about wraps our day up.

Buz And Ned's

We got up at 8:30 and had breakfast then headed to Richmond to see Pelham 123 at the IMAX theater, good movie. After the movie we went to Buz and Ned's BBQ joint. I saw it on the Food Network show Throwdown with Bobby Flay, Buz won. I had the baby back ribs and Bridget had a beef brisket sandwich, very good. Headed back to the RV and set around reading blogs and surfing the net. I tried to up-load pictures but that ain't happening for some reason. Tomorrow evening we will meet up with Bob and Molly for dinner.

My 47th

This morning after getting up, we slept in til 9am, I took the truck down and pressure washed the 5'ver hitch then re-lubed it. I try to do this monthly to keep the grit and leaves from binding up the slider hitch. Got back from that and started getting ready to hit the road when "BOOM". Our site was next to the re-enactment field. They were firing muskets and cannons. Muskets "boom", cannons "BOOM". Fred was not a happy camper dog. Bridget and Fred walked to the front of the park while I hooked up. After dumping the holding tank I headed out picking Bridget and Fred up at the front gate. We took Hwy 15 S down to Gordonsville, a 3 hour drive. We arrived at the gate of Shenandoah Crossing Resort & Country Club we were amazed by the beauty of this park. Our site has an outdoor sink with hot and cold water and granite counter, a stainless steel BBQ grill, an array of outdoor furniture, all concrete level pad, 50amp, water, sewer, and cable. After my steak, potato and salad birthday dinner we had a 3 minute cake which is made in the microwave in a coffee mug. Then we walked through the park, all paved and very clean. They are having a Carriage Rally at this park. We will definitely be back here in the future. It has started raining so we are now inside. Tomorrow we will drive down to Richmond to the IMAX theater to see the Taking of Pelham 123.

What A Great Day

Today started out with pancakes and bacon then after getting ready we headed out to Josh and Lindsay's in Pasadena about 9am. It has been a while since I have seen Josh and only pictures of Lindsay. Josh was standing out on his balcony when we arrived, still the same ole Josh. We went up and he met us at the door. All I can say about Lindsay is she is a sweetheart, fun to be around and has a wonderful personality. Josh and Lindsay surprised me with a birthday gift. Also, sent back t-shirts for Dawg that Dawg forgot on his last visit. We sat and talked in their living room about old times and looked at their wedding pictures. They were married in November 2008 in Josh's parents back yard. They were not able to take a honeymoon after they were married until last month. They took a cruise to England and after spending time there flew back to the states. We left their house and they took us into Baltimore and to the station Josh works at "The house of Engine 8" which along with E8 also has a medic unit (M15), a tiller ladder truck (T10) and a battalion chief (BC3). We left there and headed to the Abbey Burger Bistro where Bridget and I both had a Buffalo blue cheese burger and onion rings. Thanks Josh and Lindsay for a wonderful lunch. After lunch we drove down to Annapolis to the downtown area and by the Naval Academy. We were going by Josh's parents house on the way back and Josh saw his dad's vehicle in the driveway so we stopped. We ended up waking Josh's dad from his nap, sorry about that Rob. We went in and met his dad for the first time and he showed us his backyard which was beautiful. He has spend years working on it. I could see why Lindsay wanted to have the wedding there. Bridget and I were sitting in a double swing and her side broke. Actually the nut came off the eye bolt. We had a good laugh from that but Rob being the safety guy will add that to the annual safety checklist. Josh made reservations for supper at Bonefish Grill for the six of us for 7:15, his mother Cindy got off from work at 7:15 and was there by 7:35. After a wonderful supper we headed back to Gettysburg and were back by 10pm. Fred was happy to see us and saved his restroom break until we got back. Bridget fed him then they went for a walk and he did his business. Tomorrow we have a 3 hour drive down to Gordonsville, VA.

New Wheels

Coffee, pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Headed over to Hunt Valley to pick up the tires then up to York, PA where we had them put on the truck for $11.06 at a Pep Boys. Drove over to Lancaster and sold the old tires and wheels then back to the RV Park. About to head out to Wal-Mart and pick up steaks to grill. It has been overcast with off and on rain. Talked with Josh, he gets off work at 7am and we will head over to his place about 8am, it is about an hour or so drive from here.

We have made it to Gettysburg, PA. A short 3 hour drive this morning. We did stop at a Camping World and picked up 10 level blocks. I had 4 that I got from my dad many years ago, I like the new blocks and may pick up another 10 when we pass by another CW. I pick up the new wheels and tires for the truck tomorrow and have sold the stock wheel and tires to a fella in Pottstown, PA. We will met him in York, PA at the Harley dealership tomorrow afternoon. Friday we will meet up with Josh and Lindsay, he will be getting off from the BCFD that morning. We drove over to the National Fire Academy and I showed Bridget around on campus and the Fire Fighter Memorial. I forgot my camera so we will try to get back for pictures.

Day of rest before hitting the road in the morning, still hobbling area on my leg. Only thing I did today was fill the truck up with fuel and hook it up to the trailer. I have a torn muscle in my right calf, they said to continue medication and use it as little as possible for the next few days. I go back in 2 weeks for a check up. I have been in my recliner most of the day with my leg slightly elevated. It feels allot better today, still can't walk on it. Time will tell.

Doctor Day

Back to yesterday, it was forecasted to rain today so yesterday evening I hooked up to the trailer to pull it out before the rain. With the trailer still hooked to the truck I climbed into the bed of the truck by putting my foot on top of the tire and climbing up. On the way up I felt a pain in my right calf and said to myself this is not good. Called around to the after hour clinics and they were all closed so I iced, elevated and compress bandaged it and this morning went to the doctors (8am). He sent me for an MRI (9am) to see if I had torn a muscle or ligament. As of 5pm I am still waiting on the results.
