Showing

Internet at FD went out again while I was in chat. Got off this morning and headed to the mall to work the 7-3 shift. With it being a part time job we are allowed to come in when we get off from the FD, I am usually there by 8:10. Usual mall day, got home, took a nap. Bridget called and said he have a showing at 5:30 so when she got home we made a trip to WalMart. Feedback from the realtor, house is very clean, may need to do something with the wallpaper, painter is coming tomorrow afternoon to look at painting over it. Competing with new homes up the road. In chat now but forgot to write my blog so I'm heading back to chat.

2010 Camaro Giveaway

Up at 6 for a 7-3 mall shift. This morning 3 radio stations were at the mall giving away a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro so we helped set up for that. Estimate of 350 people showed up. Other then that is was a normal mall shift. Parking lot trash cleanup was a little heavier then normal due to all the people. When I got home, the air pressure gauge I ordered was in so I installed it on the trailer. It is part of the dual suspension kit, one of the gauges was bad so they sent another one. The realtor called last night to see if he could show the house at 10:45, Bridget told him it was 10:30. He didn't know what she was talking about, turns out there were 2 showings this morning. Waiting to here from the realtor.

Lack Of Sleep

After yesterday's post, the electronic locking system for the FD went out. 2 service repairmen showed up at 5 and started working on the system. They crossed some wires and burnt out the computer board. They left and said another person would be bringing another board. He showed up around 7:30 and worked, after burning out another computer board he determined there was a short in the system. He got half the station to lock down. Several hours later (12:15am) he narrowed it down the the bay door circuit. He left and I finally got into bed around 12:45 after securing the back doors. A few calls during the night and it was 6. Got up and got ready to leave at 8. Worked the mall until 3, watered plants and cleaned pond filters. Got home and started my nap, it ended at 6:40 when Bridget woke me up saying we have a showing of the house tomorrow at 10:30am.

Golf Day

Received a text this morning at 6:35 for a 9:06 tee time. Got ready and Russell picked me up at the house a little after 8. Today I shot a 120, counting all strokes and drop balls. That is my normal golf score. I need to update my clubs as the folks we were playing with asked me why I don't have a driver, I laughed and said I do but it is old and at the time I bought it it was so big I didn't know if it was a legal club. Now my driver looks like a putter compared to the new drivers. We had beautiful weather for golf and finished up around 12:30. Russell and I stopped by C'Paws for lunch then headed back to the house. When I got home around 2:15, a nap had my name on it. Nap time was over around 4.

Work Then Mom's

3 FD calls last night, got off this morning and headed to the mall, worked until 12:30 then went to Lowes and bought a dishwasher for my mom's house. I had a dentist appointment to replace a filling at 3 then headed down to Crystal Springs to install the dishwasher. On our way back we stopped at the Swinging Bridge Fish House. Back at the house and a text to play golf tomorrow, don't have to work anywhere tomorrow so it looks like golf.

Open House And Cell Phones

Got an email from the realtor saying they had 3 visitors for the open house on Sunday, they said that was a good turnout, no offers though.
This past weekend I was having problems with my 4 year old cell phone and with our contracts up we looked at Verizon which is what we have our air card through. Ended up with 2 LG enV3 phones with the friends and family plan.
2 calls so far today at the FD, working the mall tomorrow until 2:30, dentist appointment at 3 to have a filling replaced. About it for now.

Great Time

Breakfast was coffee, pancakes and bacon. We walked around the park and hung out at the trailer until lunch. There is a restaurant at the park which has a great buffet. We were all full when we left, did some more walking and when we got back to the trailer a domino rematch was in store, before we knew it the 2:30pm had arrived and check out was 3pm. Refueled the truck at WalMart and headed back home. Haven't heard anything from the open house yet. Sitting in my recliner, need more weekends like this one.

Beautiful Weekend

Got off from the FD and when I got home hooked up to the 5'ver and headed out for Lake Tiak-O'Khata. 92 mile drive was uneventful, up the Natchez Trace to Hwy 16 to Hwy 25 to the entrance. We made reservations for 2 spots by the lake. I called just before arrival and was told we would be in site 1 & 2. After going into the office the lady said site 1 was reserved and I said that would be us. She told me it was for long term rental. She then said to go fine a spot and call her back and let her know the site numbers. I turned into the campground and luckily found the two best spots in the park, site 9 and 10. Dawg and Connie showed up a little later. We had grilled burgers for lunch and bone in ribeyes for supper. Beautiful weather this weekend, highs and lows, lower 80's and mid 60's. We played dominoes at night.

80 Right Now

At the FD with 5 EMS calls so far today. Temp is 80.1 degrees, some rain today but it didn't last long, looking forward to the cooler temps this weekend (Lows 60's, Highs 80's) and camping at Lake Tiak-O'Khata with some FD friends (Dawg and Family). No rain forcasted for the weekend, should be a nice one.

Cooler Temps

I was scheduled to work the mall 7a-3p but left after lunch as it started raining which slows our outside work down and there was 3 of us. I had some things I wanted to get done in the house before Sunday's open house. I also have someone coming by tomorrow to pick up the van for a weekend test drive. It is for a church youth group so they will us it while we are out of town this weekend. Also got a haircut. It has rained since after lunch. Temps are falling which is great, in the 70's now.

A Question

First to answer a question from Debbie, Hey guys... when do you actually stop working and hit the road? The answer: Bridget retired in 2004 so she is ready anytime. I on the other hand am still working 2 jobs as most of you know. My part time job is the mall, I will give two weeks notice when we close on the house. My full time job is the FD, I am eligible for retirement now but will continue working until the house sells. The house has been on the market a week with nothing so far, open house is scheduled for this Sunday, crossed fingers. My earliest retirement will be January 2010 if the house sells before October. The state requests 3 months notice for retirement paperwork, I work for a city but we are on state retirement. If it sells after October, I will retire 3 months after we close on the house. We will then be on the road. Our road plans are to travel January through the middle of November. Between November and January we will have our physicals, eye and dental appointments and visiting with family and friends.

Today:
My sister dropped my mom and aunt Martha off last night as she is going to the Bristol night race this weekend. This morning Bridget and I took mom and aunt Martha up to Grenada to meet aunt Martha's son Winston. They will be up there for a week or so visiting Winston and Patty. Winston lives around Sardis Lake. When I got back home we had lunch then at 1 I had my dental appointment to have my teeth cleaned. We are going for a weekend camping trip so I finally installed the dual air suspension. The trailer has air suspension but it was one inlet for both sides, now I can air each side individually. Then the rains came so I am inside in my recliner.

18 Holes

I had a chief's meeting this morning at the FD then to the mall. Got off from the mall and meet Jeff Case (FD) at Patrick Farms golf course. I shot a 60 which you might say is a great score but that was on the first nine holes, shot a 62 on the second nine. This puts me in my usual low 120's but had fun doing it. Relaxing in the recliner for now.

Sign Is Up

Got home from the FD, my brother Bill from Arkansas was in and came by to pick up a work bench from our garage. We got that loaded and talked a while then headed out. I went over to the electrical job (2 hours). I installed a 50 amp outlet at a friends house for her motor home. Her son called me and wants me to look at his storage room to wire it. I am waiting on his call right now. We got the email from the Realtor to put the sign up, that was done shortly after noon. THIS is the listing. I may go play golf after work tomorrow.

Great News, But Not Ours

Found out today that Jim and Dee sold their condo and Josh and Lindsey got an offer on theirs. Hope our market is coming back strong for a quick sale.
Today was an FD day, usual day with nothing exciting. The Realtor came by and got the inside pictures so we can put the sign in the yard tomorrow at noon after they have it listed on the MLS. That is about it.

Getting Closer

Let me start off by saying I try to write something every day, usually between 5:30-8:30 depending on what I have going on. Most posts are short as I don't have allot to write about but hopefully after we get full time they will be longer.
Today started off at 6am, boy was I sore from yesterday. Worked the mall 7-3, the mall work varies for picking up trash in the parking lots and side walks, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash cans, cleaning pond filters, cleaning nozzles on the interactive fountain, watering potted plants, assisting with access to electrical rooms and roofs for contractors, and anything else that needs doing.
When I got home Bridget had a list of stuff to get done before the Realtor can take interior pictures. One of those items was finish painting the bathroom doors. You may recall I started painting the interior of the house when I remembered I don't like to paint so I hired one. He painted everything but those doors mainly because I didn't ask him too. I figured I would finish that part of my project. Bridget has been busy on the inside and has the place spotless. Won't be long and the house will be on the market and soon after we will be on the road visiting some of you. Back to the list.

I'm Offically Tired

For Sale Soon, hopefully Thursday.

Got a call from Lynn, the mall boss, asking if I could work today, I said yes but had a few things to do before I could get in. A good friend called yesterday to see if I could wire a 50 amp outlet for her motor home so I went there this morning, it will be a Thursday project. Got to the mall about 10:30 and started helping Troy water the potted plants. When that was complete we planted 100 or so annuals in the entrance to the mall. That took til 3, headed home and put out 36 bags of mulch and took pictures for the Realtor.

Annie came over and went with Bridget to Lowes and bought flowers to plant in the front. after lunch we planted the flowers they bought then it was shower time and off to the mall, worked 3-9:15. All I have left is mulch which I will do Monday then get pictures.

Roosevelt State Park

When I got home from the FD we said our see you laters to Harold and Sandie. They started back to Florida a little after 8am. Bridget and I readied the trailer for our trip to Roosevelt SP in Morton, MS with Dawg and his family. We arrived to find our reserved site with someone in it. They were not there and as of this posting have not been here. The park relocated us to a site across from Dawg and family instead of next to them and refunded 50% of the site fee. Dawg had not shown up so I called him and he had a blow out on his trailer about 8 miles from the exit and was just about under way. So at the park is Bridget and I, Dawg and Connie and their 2 kids Logan and Hallie, his in-laws, MIL's twin sister and husband and 2 g-kids totaling 8 adults and 4 kids. We grilled hot dogs for lunch and supper grilled pork chops along with salad, fried taters and onions, green beans, rolls and a tasty desert Bridget made. It has rained most of the day so we have been under awnings. We did have a trip to the SWM (Super Wal-Mart).
