Howling good time.

Woke up to a very windy day today.  John was going golfing but decided it was just too windy.  Not too much going on in the park.  There are three RVs in the park including ours.  I have not seen anyone come in or out of the other two.  Usually when I take Fred out I meet people staying in the park.  Just thought that was strange.

You know there isn’t much going on when the highlight of the day is having a howling match with Fred.

We start making a howling sound a Fred will usually join in.  I know ……. it doesn’t take much to amuse us. LOL  Fred sure enjoys it though.

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  We will be traveling on to Waldron, Arkansas to visit with John’s brother Bill, his wife Tambra, Mom Hatch and Aunt Martha.

Happy Birthday Mom Hatch & Aunt Martha.

Today is Mom Hatch and her twin sister Martha Noe’s birthdays. We wish them a very Happy Birthday and will be seeing them on March 1st.

Today is travel day for us. Our destination will be Millwood Landing in Ashdown, Arkansas. Joe and Sherri invited us over for breakfast this morning. Sherri served us some awesome omelets, bacon and muffins. Thanks so much for a delicious breakfast Sherri and Joe.

We have enjoyed spending time with Joe and Sherri and hope to meet up with them again real soon. Joe still remains the champ at 10 Penny so you know there will be a re-match. LOL

Around 3:00 we rolled into Millwood Landing. Thanks to Carol and Johnny we have a site with great satellite reception. They loaned us there site while were are here. We appreciate it very much.

001 Fred chilling out after our three hour drive today.

After getting everything set up John went into town in search of wooden dowels to temporarily fix our sink problem. Since today is Sunday the hardware store was closed so he went on over to Wal-mart. The clerk who was helping John told him they did not have any wooden dowels but he did have some pieces of pallets out back. John came back, got out the saw and now the sink is stable.

This should hold us until we make it to the DRV plant on March 21st.

To the RV show we go.

Our plan for the day is to go to the RV Show in Dallas with our friends Joe and Sherri. John fixed us a breakfast of sausage gravy and biscuits and then we were off on our adventure.

Joe, Sherri and I were looking at motor homes when we realized John was missing. We found him three rows over talking to a DVR Sale Rep. He was asking him questions concerning some of the items we will be having fixed at the plant in March. The Rep was helpful in getting John the correct contact names and phone numbers.

We all continued on looking at all the new stuff. It is so interesting to see what they can cram into small places and all the changes being introduced by the recreational vehicle industry.

001Here is Joe demonstrating the relaxed way to drive a motor home. LOL

After we had all seen our fill of the RVs we stopped off at Spring Creek BBQ. I think we all chose something different. We were all very hungry and the food was delicious. Then we off again and headed back to Wills Point.

Tomorrow morning we will be having breakfast at Joe and Sherri's before heading out to different destinations. We have enjoyed our time with them and look forward to future visits.

Joe wins at 10 Penny!!!!!!

Our destination today was Lake Tawakoni State Park in Wills Point, TX.  The maintenance department at Mill Creek had to give us a boost off this morning as our battery was dead.  The inside lights in the Freightliner were left on overnight….NOT GOOD.  Anyway after getting the boost we were on our way.  We made it to our destination before lunch.

Later on in the afternoon we heard from Joe and Sherri.  They had made it to Wills Point.  Yeah!  Joe was ready for a rematch of 10 Penny.  After dinner we all sat down for a rematch of 10 Penny and had just begun the first round when we all heard an odd sound.  John looks over toward the kitchen area and said, “the sink just fell”.  I thought he was joking at first and we all had a good laugh but ……..he was not joking.

002

See where the sink has fallen away from the countertop.  We had a leak a while back and it is on the list of things to be fixed at the plant.  Now they will have to fix this also. Anyway, John and Joe got up under the sink to check it out.  The sink is now being propped up with leveling blocks.

Ok, now it was back to 10 Penny.  Tonight was Joe’s night.  We played two rounds and he beat us all on both rounds.  He even performed his happy dance.

We are so glad we got to meet up with Joe and Sherri again.  We always have a fun time.

Off to Barkley Park

There is a dog run here at Mill Creek Ranch RV Park.  Every time I head over there with Fred it starts to rain.  What is up with that?  Today heavy rain moved in right after lunch.  The good thing is when the rain stopped the bright sunshine came out.  This time Fred and I made it to “Barkley Park”.  The ground was very wet but Fred had a good time.

006 This is the dog run at the back of the park. Love the name.

002 Fred doing his favorite thing…….sniffing.

001 They even had a fire hydrant.

003 Of course Fred was fascinated with it and………

004……..had to sniff it too. LOL

For dinner tonight we walked over to the little Mexican Hut (restaurant) next to the entrance of the park.  John had a craving for tacos and I wanted tamales.

008My plate of tamales, rice and beans. I may need another round on the Wii tomorrow. LOL

Tomorrow we will be traveling on to Lake Tawakoni State Park in Wills Point, TX.  We hope to meet up with our friends Joe and Sherri while there.

Burgers in Mineola

Drove in to Tyler to pick up the door switches for the Freightliner.  John installed them while in the parking lot. Now the lights work in the cab when the door is open.  Yeah!!!

After leaving Tyler we detoured over to Mineola to have lunch at a place called East Texas Hamburger Company.  John got a burger basket which consisted of 1/2 pound burger with hand cut fries.  I chose a 1/4 burger.  Since the desserts are homemade we decided to veer away from the diet food just a little bit and try some.  John got the coconut cream pie and I got the carrot cake.  They were both yummy.  John said it was the best coconut cream pie he has ever had.

001 John getting ready to devour his burger and fries.

002 Oh that first bite was sooooooo good! LOL

Now that we were all filled up from lunch we walked around a little bit before heading back to Canton.  Of course I took a few pictures.

Off to Canton, TX.

We were on the road by 11:30 and on our way to Mill Creek Ranch RV Resort in Canton, TX.  When we got there we were the only RV on that side of the campground.  Later in the afternoon a few more RV’s pulled in.

002 This is the view from our site.  Look at all vacant sites.

Tomorrow we will go into town to pick up a door switch for the Freightliner.  Other than that we will play it by ear and see what else we can get into.

Dinner & 10 Penny with Joe & Sherri

Fred up early again this morning….8:00 a.m. He has started getting up early again. What is up with that?

004

Joe and Sherri made it to Tyler this afternoon and stopped by to see us. Tonight we all went to Casa Ole for dinner. After dinner we returned to our RV for some 10 Penny. John won the game with a score of 185, Sherri came in second, I came in third and Joe, well he came in last. The cards weren’t kind to him. He did however win three rounds.

002 Joe’s happy dance when he won a round.

Spring Creek RV Resort, Tyler, TX.

Up around 7:15 a.m.  The Fred alarm went off.  He decided it was time to get up and would not go back to sleep.  I guess he was really hungry. LOL

We were on the road by 9:00 and headed to Tyler, TX. The first park was full so we are staying at Spring Creek RV Resort.  Nice park with 50 AMP.  Looks like we will be able to meet up with our good friends Joe and Sherri.  Yeah!!!  We have not seen them since our Colorado trip last September.  It will be good to see them and catch up.

The weather was so nice today we decided to take a walk.  We walked from the camper to the entrance to the park which ended up being 1.5 miles.  A nice walk.

On the road again.

Marcy is home recuperating.  She is weak but doing pretty well after her ordeal.  Thanks again for all the prayers and get well wishes.

Up early this morning.  John cooked biscuits and sausage gravy this morning.  Sidney, a former Ridgeland Firefighter, who is a instructor at the MS State Fire Academy, came by for a visit. We had planned to go by and visit with him when we first got back to MS but somehow never got the chance.  So we enjoyed having breakfast with him and catching up.

002

John and Sidney.

We did  not leave Timberlake campground until 11:00 so we decided to stay at Lincoln Parish Park in Ruston, Louisiana overnight. It is a beautiful park with nice bike and walking trails.  Our plan is to travel on to Tyler, Texas tomorrow.

This afternoon we took a walk around the park and got a few pictures.  The weather here is perfect for being outdoors.
