Wal-mart, Farmer’s Market & Dairy Palace.

We did not leave the campground until after lunch today. Our outings today consisted of a Wal-mart run and a trip to the local farmer’s market.  I bought some green beans, squash, tomatoes, sweet onions, cantaloupe, sweet corn and candied jalapenos.  You know some of that stuff would be on a plate for dinner. LOL

I cooked the green beans, squash, and corn for dinner.  We had that with sliced tomatoes and left over cornbread.  It don’t get any better than that.  Well, I guess if we had some Southern fried chicken it would have been better. LOL

Later tonight I was in the mood for something sweet.  There is a Dairy Palace right down the street from the campground.  You know I didn’t have to twist John’s arm too hard.  They are famous for their hamburgers and have been in business since 1984. They also have Blue Bell Ice Cream which is what we came for. I got a scoop of banana nut ice cream in a waffle cone and John got the ultimate banana split.

002

I tried to take a picture of the sign from the parking lot.  It was dark so it didn’t come out too well.

003

I caught John in between bites.

004

Close up shot of his banana split. Wow that’s big.

Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, TX

Today was travel day. Destination Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, Texas. We did not leave MS until 10:30 but our drive today wasn’t but a five hour one.

When we were about 24 miles from our destination we passed a wreck which had occurred on I-20 Eastbound. The wreck involved several 18 wheelers. Traffic was backed up for miles and the rain was just started to get nasty.

It was after 5:00 p.m. when we pulled into Mill Creek Ranch Resort the rain started pouring. Not the ideal weather for setting-up. John’s feet were soaked while he was hooking up. I took Fred for his potty outing and we got paws and feet wet too. I like this park……50AMP. My kind of place. After rain stopped I was able to get a few pictures of the park.

Dinner with Family, 10 Penny & Sockey the Outlaw Monkey!

We started putting things away today to get everything travel ready for tomorrow. John made a run to Lowe’s for some wire connectors and also purchased a large cooler that will sit inside the truck. We also purchased a shower caddy from Bed, Bath and Beyond. The shower in our new RV has a different type of door closure and our old shower caddy would not work. We have searched for days for something and finally we found it. Yeah!!! Isn’t funny how something so small can make your day. LOL

Since today will be our last day in MS for a while plans were made to go to Annie and Terry’s for a cookout. Our menu included baked potatoes, grilled chicken, corn on the cob, green beans, rolls and Marcy’s banana pudding. After dinner it was time to play 10 Penny. Everyone played except Terry. He was busy entertaining the dogs. We brought Fred along with us and he loves to play with Terry. As we began round three of 10 Penny we heard a commotion coming from the kitchen. It seems Terry had corned the “outlaw” Sock Monkey. It seems there was a reward out for Sockey. When confronted with the gun Sockey gave up. LOL

006

Yes, that is a real gun. Terry has several. This one Annie refers to as the elephant gun.

Back to the 10 Penny game. John won and Mom and I came in last.

007

Dad wondering how he drew this crappy hand.

008

By the next round he had a winning hand.

009

Mom closed her eyes because she just could not look at her losing hand. LOL

011

Annie was shocked that she could not make a play for two rounds.

012

John making his winning play.

After the first 10 Penny game John retired to the living room with Terry and Annie decide to crochet and watch Mom, Dad and I play one more game.

015

This game ended in a three way tie. That has never happened before.

016

By the time this game ended it was getting close to 10:00 p.m. so we called it a night. Tomorrow will be a travel day for us. Our next destination will be Canton, TX.

Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.

Fred’s Spa Day, Bumming Around & Dinner with Friends.

Our day began with taking Fred to his spa day.  Yesterday when I went to the chiropractor I noticed a new dog grooming business next door to them.  Since it was time for Fred’s monthly spa day I inquired about price.  They offered 20% off for first time customers so today was Fred’s lucky day.

We had an hour to kill before picking Fred up so John and I drove to the auto parts store for a cabin air filter for the Freightliner.  My past experiences with auto parts stores is that they have one speed of service SLOW!!  It is for that reason that I always stay in the vehicle when John goes inside.  I know I am not very patient.  We ended up going to three stores before John got lucky.  They had to order it but would have it after lunch.  Believe it or not a whole hour had past.  Imagine that. LOL  We picked up Fred and returned to the camper just in time to meet Annie.

003 My sister Annie with Fred.  He loves for her to pet him.

Annie and I had plans to hang out and shop today or as we call it go "bumming around”.  When we do this we usually eat lunch then go to our favorite stores.  Sometimes we don’t buy a thing just look.  Today John joined us for lunch at Zaxby’s.  This is our favorite salad place.  Afterwards John went back to the auto parts store to pick up the cabin air filter.  Annie and I proceeded to go “bumming around”.  Our tour of bumming around included  Borders Book Store, Hobby Lobby, Babies R Us, Khol’s and finally Walmart.  By the time we exited Walmart it was getting late so Annie dropped me off at the camper.

John was busy waxing the truck when I got home.  It had rained a little so the temperatures were a little cooler.  I know he was tired from waxing that monster of a truck.

Tonight John and I had dinner with our friends Bo and Kay Jordan.  We chose a place called Philip’s.  Their specialty is seafood.  John and Bo had catfish platters while Kay and I opted for grilled Mahi Mahi and Tilapia.  Everything was very tasty.  No room left for dessert.

005 Bo and Kay Jordan.

Tomorrow we plan to go over to my sister’s for a cookout and a re-match of 10 Penny.  Got to get a 10 Penny re-match in before we hit the road.  LOL

Blue Rooster with Friends and Family.

Our first errand this morning was to Lowe’s.  We were in search of some type of cabinet or something to put the dishwasher on.  John found some shelving that would work until we get back in November and have something built.  The dishwasher is in the same closet with the washer and dryer.

015 Picture of closet with washer/dryer combo and dishwasher.

Our second errand was to pick up the Freightliner M2.  The new shocks were installed and it was ready to go. From there John went to the audio store and I went to the chiropractor.  My back is much better but I felt I needed one more adjustment before we hit the road on Monday.

Tonight we had dinner at The Blue Rooster with friends and family.

011 It is called The Blue Rooster but the sign is green.

002 Nicole and Walt Jenkins.

003 Dad and my sister Annie.

004 Mom.

008 John, Walt and Matt Jenkins.

007 John making a face at my sister. She wanted him to smile for the camera. LOL

We left the Ram with Matt and Nicole until we return in November. The are letting us store it in their giant barn.  Thanks Matt and Nicole.

The plan is to leave Monday and begin our way toward Colorado where we will meet up with our friends Joe, Sherri, Mike and Leslie.  It will be so good to see them and catch up.  I am sure we will play a hand or two of 10 Penny and maybe some Mexican Train.  One thing is for sure we will all be laughing.

012 Sockey likes my new chair.

013

Oh look Sherri…..I guess it looks small enough to be a kid’s chair. LOL

New Chair, Shocks for Truck and 10 Penny.

We slept late this morning since we were worn out from the quick trip to Houston, TX. It was 2:00 a.m. when we got back to MS.

I met my sister and our friend Aileen for lunch at Applebees to swap some books and catch up on all the news. While I was gone John took the truck to get shocks on the front and rear of it. I was in the process of running a few errands and decided to call John to see if he was finished with the truck stuff. As luck would have it he was about to call me to pick him up. The man installing the shocks could not finish it today so John needed a ride. I picked up John and went to The Back Store to pick up my “short people chair”. Yeah!!!! I am so glad it came in.

003 Here is my new chair. John calls it the “midget” chair. I love it because my feet actually reach the ground. LOL

John’s new chair will not be in before we leave. He will have to pick it up in November when we return to MS.

While John settled in for his afternoon nap I went to pick up Fred at the kennel. He has been there since last Thursday. He probably will not be happy with me.

002

Fred was glad to be home but he couldn’t quite figure out why the stairs were in a different place. This is his first time in the new RV.

Later tonight Bob and Marcy came over to see my new chair and try it out. We ended up playing a round of 10 Penny.

004 Dad won the game. John came in second but Mom and I did not fare to well. We had high losing scores. Oh well, we will get them on the next round. LOL

Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.

05 Mobile Suites to Houston and Dinner with Relatives.

Up early this morning and Houston bound.  The trip went smoothly and we arrived in Houston around 2:30 p.m.  The 05 Mobile Suites is now for sale at PPL.  While we were waiting to finish paper work at PPL I called to see if my cousin and his family would be in the Beaumont area around dinner time. John and I left PPL around 4:30 p.m. and got in the middle of rush hour traffic.  That was no fun.

Luckily we were able to catch up with my cousin Daniel and his family in Beaumont at Cheddars.  They arrived about the same time as we did.

It was good to see them all and catch up on what everyone has been up to. Before we knew it 8:00 p.m. rolled around and we had to get on the road to MS again.

I received a call today from The Back Store saying my “short people” chair is here. Yeah!!!  We will pick it up tomorrow.  That new chair will make me a happy camper. LOL

Houston…..we have a problem!

John did plan to go to Houston today.  He got up at 4:00 a.m., showered and was out the door.  The agenda was to stop at the Flying J and weight the trailer and fuel up and be on the road by 5:30.  Well… he made 2 right turns and 1 left turn when the truck stopped dead in it’s tracks. He thought the air brakes locked up.  At 4:15 a.m. the campground was very dark.  The truck just so happened to stop where it was blocking the campground loop.  That wasn’t good. He made a quick call to Coachnet and they dispatched a huge wrecker that arrived at daylight.  The plan was to disconnect the trailer, tow the truck in and put the trailer on one of the empty sites.  He unhooked the trailer and the truck pulled out without any problems, hhmm??  Turns out he forgot to hook the brake away line up to the truck so it was hanging down and caught on the frame of the truck.  When he reached the turn it pulled out which caused the trailer brakes to lock up like they are suppose to.  Needless to say, by this time, he would have been pushing it to make the 4:00 p.m. appointment.     So we plan to leave at 6:00 a.m. in the morning Houston bound.  One more time.  Poor thing he will have to endure my singing.  I do love the radio. LOL    He weighed the trailer and fueled up today so that will save time.

As soon as the office opened John walked over to rent the space for one more night.  Since it will not be hooked up to anything they did not charge us for an additional night.  That was very nice of them.

The good news is everything inside the new trailer is in its place now!!!! Yeah!!!!  I was determined to get everything put up.  I just can’t stand clutter.  It had to goooooo!! LOL

This afternoon John dropped me off at the chiropractor’s office.  I have overdone it and my back is telling me all about it.

I did manage to take a few pictures after everything was picked up and put away.  The chairs we ordered have not come in so I will post of picture of the living room area when we get them.  I really need my “short people” chair.

Tags for Truck and Camper and more moving.

Up early this morning to move more stuff from one camper to the other.  I think this stuff grew overnight!!

Firefighter Marc Moore came by this morning to help John with the pull out shelves.  John took them out of the 05 Mobile Suites and realized they needed a little bit of altering.  Thanks Marc for fixing the shelves my short arms really appreciate it.

Before lunch John and I went to the Tax Collector’s Office to get tags for the truck and camper.  We were there over an hour.  It seems the State and County have a difference of opinion as to what type of tag is needed for the Freightliner.  After several phone calls to the State John was finally issued a private tag for truck and trailer.

Around 7:30 tonight we finished moving all the stuff!!!!  Yeah….its about time.  The 05 Mobile Suites is hooked up and ready to roll.   John called PPL to ask a few questions before leaving tomorrow.  He was told that I would not have to be present so he plans to leave at 4:30 a.m. on his way to Houston, TX.  I know what I will be doing…..putting up stuff in the new camper.  Of course I will have to go and get Fred.  It will be interesting to see what he thinks of the new place.

Saturday & Sunday..moving and more moving.

Saturday our day began with unloading cabinets and drawers in the 05 Mobile Suites. Since we are parked across the street we are able to take small loads and place them where we want them.

Sunday was pretty much the same except for a visitor from the park. Billy and Susan Stockton contacted us six or eight months ago to say they have been following our blog. Today they stopped by to see us. They knew we were busy with the move and did not stay long. Maybe we will be able to catch up with them when we return from Texas.

Before we knew it 8:00 p.m. was upon us and we hadn’t had dinner yet. We needed some things from Wal-mart so we decided to eat out and then go to Wal-mart.

We will post pictures of the new Mobile Suites as soon as we get everything put in its place.

Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.

New Mobile Suites picked up and MS bound.

We slept well in the new RV. I think we were so worn out we could have slept standing up. LOL Up early and to Waffle House for breakfast.

002

I forgot the blow drier. Don’t I look a fright. LOL

When we returned to the dealership the tech, Sam, was working on a air conditioning unit for someone who was coming through and needed help. As soon as he finished with them he came over to our RV to see what our punch list of fix-its were. Sam was very efficient but he had to split his time between our RV and two other new RVs that were being picked up today. He was a very busy man. This dealership has been very accommodating during the sale and after. They even fed us lunch while we were waiting for the tech to finish.

003 Sockey found a place to hang out while the tech was fixing things. Fred is at Wee Paws kennel in MS. I hope he is eating this time. Last time we boarded him in Indiana he would not eat. John said if he gets hungry enough he will eat.

Finally, all the items on the fix-it list were complete and we were ready to hit the road. Butch, the operator of the dealership, said we could stay in their lot and leave the next day but we decided to head back to MS as we need to unload the 05 Mobile Suites.

004 All hooked up and ready to roll!!!! Yeah!! John makes one last walk around the rig to make sure everything is right. Does this truck make the RV look small? LOL

005

Here is John as we pull out of the dealership. I think he was concentrating hard. LOL It was after 7:30 p.m and we had a long trip ahead of us.

To Knoxville to pick up new Mobile Suites

John got in after 2:30 a.m. this morning and went to bed for a short while before we had to get up and get back on the road to Knoxville, TN.  We finally departed around 10:00 a.m. this morning.  John and I both like the new truck.  I love those air ride seats.  Sure makes those bumps easier.

002 The weather was nasty this morning as we headed out.  It rained on and off until we got closer to Knoxville.

003 John was pretending to sleep and drive.  He actually had his left eye open and was making me think he was sleepy.  He probably was tired enough to go to sleep after yesterdays travels. LOL

004 You can tell John is happy with this truck.

We finally arrived in Knoxville, TN around 7:30 p.m.  Karen, the lady who has been handling our new Mobile Suites deal was still at the office.  They had our RV hooked up and ready for us to spend the night.  Karen and Butch are the operators of RV’s for Less and have been great to deal with. Tomorrow we have the official walk through and, of course,  the paper work.

John and I went into town to eat and make a Wal-mart run.  We came directly back to the camper hoping to get to bed early.  Well it is after 10:30 so I guess we won’t be getting to bed early. LOL

Below are a few pictures of the interior.  The wood finish is cherry which is a little darker than the old one.  More pictures to come.  I think I will go to bed now.
