Clean Out

Worked on cleaning out the back bedrooms, lots of stuff, never know how much you have until you have 30 days to get rid of it. Bridget was burning up the paper shredder. Annie and Terry came over and picked up a desk and chair. Robert came over and claimed some stuff. Bridget and I went out for supper at a local Chinese restaurant. Home inspection is tomorrow at 2.

Happy Birthday Mom Hatch and Aunt Martha.

John is supposed to be off today. :) Today is Mom Hatch and Aunt Martha’s 81st birthday. We met them and John’s sister Mary Lee and her husband Steve for lunch at Cafe Azteca in Brandon. Cafe Azteca is an authentic Mexican restaurant that serves large portions at a decent price. From the outside it looks like a dump but the food is great.

After lunch John and I drove over and checked out a couple of campgrounds as possible places to park once the house is sold. The closest place that we were thinking about parking at is under renovation and will not be able to accommodate us for a while. What a bummer.

We returned home and I got on the Wii for my daily workout and John went to the FD to fill in for another firefighter for an hour or so. After my workout I started emptying the remaining items out of the guest bedroom closet. When John returned he started on the guest bathroom cabinets. This was just too much fun. LOL

While we were out today another realtor showed the house again. I will be happy when all this house stuff is finished.

Home Inspection Scheduled.

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(

Our realtor called this morning to say the home inspection will be Monday at 2:00 p.m.  Sure hope all goes well with that.

I guess I have overworked my muscles from too much exercise or playing too much Bejeweled.  When I went to the chiropractor yesterday he said my neck and shoulder muscles were like concrete and that I should really go and get a deep tissue massage.  So off I go to the my massage appointment at 11:00 a.m. today.  I do feel much better and am able to move around better.  I have been off of the computer all day so that probably helped.

After lunch I met John’s brother Bill over at Bob and Marcy’s so that he could remove some items from a storage shed.  Bill was in town from Arkansas to sign papers on the sell of their house.  It had been on the market for six months and they were delighted that it sold so quickly.

My sister Annie and I had planned on going to dinner and a movie tonight but we did not find anything of interest at the movies so we scratched that idea.  Instead we met John at Applebee’s for dinner and afterwards went to the music store, bookstore and then finally Wal-mart.

Tomorrow will be Mom Hatch and Aunt Martha’s birthday so we will be taking them to lunch.  They will be 81 years old.

SOLD!!!

John at the FD today for part of a shift.  He is filling in for another firefighter.

Well we finally got an offer then it went to a counter offer and then another counter offer and then…..SOLD!!!!  It only took six months.  Not too bad in this economy.  Now to get rid of stuff.  The house inspection will be next week and they are planning to close on March 31st.   I know we will be very busy for the rest of this month and next.  Our thanks to everyone for their prayers and keeping fingers, toes and everything else crossed. LOL

John went to City Hall today to file is papers so he can retire.  I know he has waited for this day for a long time but I also know he is really really really going to miss the guys at the FD.  They are like family.

Two Showings and an Offer.

John off today. Yeah!!!! :)  After getting off at the FD this morning John and a few other C-Shift guys ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  I bet the conversation was lively. LOL

Later this morning as John was checking his emails and reading his blogs and I was exercising on my Wii Fit Plus we received calls from two realtors wanting to show the house.  Ok, this has happened numerous times before so we didn’t get too excited.  We left the house around 12:15 and went to eat lunch at Newks Express Cafe and then drove on to the accountant’s office to pick up our prepared tax papers.   Around 4:00 p.m. I received a call from our realtor saying he had heard we would be receiving an offer for our house.  There have been a lot of people looking at our house over the past six months and we haven’t received any offers so we didn’t get our hopes up at first.  But…..45 minutes later our realtor called saying he had received an offer and was coming over to discuss it with us.  We submitted a counter offer and are awaiting a response.   Please keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed. LOL

We just finished watching American Idol.  What in the world happened to the talent?  Last night the ladies were disappointing and now some of the men. I saw only two people that I wanted to listen to.

Possible Snow Again.

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(

Misting rain and possible snow is forecasted to be coming our way. The temperature is supposed to fall to 23 degrees tonight. It could be quite messy around here.

I brought John his dinner to the fire station then stopped by to see Bob and Marcy on my way home. As usual, we played a round of 10 Penny. I can’t believe it….I actually won this time. LOL

Mint

John off today so we slept late…..even Fred!!!! The rain moved through last night and left cooler temperatures today.

My sister Annie and I went to the funeral home late this afternoon in support of one of our classmates whose mother passed away Saturday. On our way back we stopped by the hospital to visit with my sister’s nephew in law whose wife had their first child yesterday. The baby weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and is doing great.

Tonight John and I ate at Mint the Restaurant in the Renaissance Mall. John had a gift certificate for two and we decided it was a good night to go. We ordered crab cakes for our appetizer, mixed green salad and for the entree we both ordered beef tenderloin and grilled red onion potato au gratin. It was very tasty. I ate half of mine and saved the other half for my lunch tomorrow as I planned to eat dessert. We ordered Creole Cream Cheese Cheesecake. It was to die for. Isn't it funny how everything seems to revolve around food. Don’t know if that is a Southern thing or not. LOL

French Fried Onion Chicken

John at the mall from 1 to 9 today. :)  No news from the realtor yet.   The realtor for the house next door that has been for sale for over a year and a half held another open house today.  Sometimes we get some showings off of that.  Sure hope so.

It has been a little over two weeks since I started working out on the Wii Fit Plus.  I usually workout for an hour or so.  My weight is slowing going down and my muscle tone is increasing so I am happy with that.  I had to do something because I sure don’t want to be as wide as I am tall. LOL

I made French Fried Onion Chicken for dinner and took it to John at the mall.  This is another chicken dish that I have come up with using chicken, French fried onions, cream of celery soup and chopped onions.  Isn’t it amazing how much you can do with chicken. LOL

The rain has moved in now along with thunder and lightening.  There are sirens going off every few minutes it seems.  I guess people are driving crazy in the rain again. The fire department is staying busy tonight.

Waiting on the realtor to call.

John at the FD today for a 24 hour shift. :(  Temperatures got up to 65 degrees today with loads of sunshine. Yeah!!!!  I wish it would stay that way for a while but tomorrow the rain will move in and the colder temperatures will return.

Not much going on today.  I dusted and polished the furniture and all that good stuff.  John received an email from a realtor with a client interested in a second look at the house.  No call from them today…..maybe they will call tomorrow.  I will keep my fingers crossed.

I went to the fire station and played a round of 10 Penny with John and the guys.  That is always good entertainment.  They all play with different strategies. It is funny.

Remember to laugh everyday.  Happy Trails.  Stay safe.

Vote for Turkey Meatloaf Recipe

John at the mall today from 3 to 11. :(  Today was nice and warm with temperatures almost reaching 60 degrees.  I can’t wait for 70 degrees.  Now that is my kind of weather!!!

I met  Robert and Kelsey at Olive Garden for lunch today.  They both have hectic schedules so it is a rare treat to catch up with them for lunch every once in a while. We all decided to have the soup, salad and bread sticks.  The food was delicious and the conversation amusing.  Robert is very entertaining.

I have entered my Turkey Meatloaf recipe in a contest for publication in a food blog cookbook.  The person with the most votes will have their recipe published.  If you would like to vote for my recipe please click on “The Foodista Best of Food Blogs Cookbook” link located in the top right hand corner of our blog.  Thanks so much for your votes.

John off today….Not!

John was supposed to be off today but got called in to work for a few hours at the mall. :(   Before going in to work at the mall John did some touch up work on some paint in a few areas.

I felt a little under the weather this morning so I took it slow.  Later on this afternoon I felt good enough to get on the Wii and do my daily workout.  Can’t give up now!!! LOL

The weather turned out nice today….somewhere in the 50s with the sun shining all day.

Lemon Garlic Chicken

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(  Today has been a quiet day.  No calls on the house.

I fixed Lemon Garlic Chicken, wild rice and green beans for dinner and took it to the fire station.  After dinner I stayed and played 10 Penny with John and the guys.  They are always so entertaining.

We are supposed to get colder temperatures and rain by the weekend.  I am ready for spring to get here. Enough of this cold weather already.

The Corner Bakery

John scheduled to work at the mall 3 to 11 today. :( Not much going on today. No calls on the house yet this week.

My sister Annie and I made plans after she got off work to go and eat and to shop a little. She was in search of yarn for a project she is working on and a birthday gift for one of her employees. We decided to eat at The Corner Bakery in Flowood. Annie chose the chicken salad and I chose a roasted chicken sandwich and salad combo. Their menu consists of many healthy choices. The food was tasty and the customer service was great.

Spaghetti for Dinner

John at the mall today 3 to 11. :( Not much news today. John took all the information for our taxes to the accountant today before going to work. I sure hope we come out better this time around.

My day consisted of household chores, cooking and, of course, the Wii workout. I fixed spaghetti and garlic cheddar biscuits and brought it to John and his co-worker for dinner at the mall tonight. Ok, I know John is very spoiled. LOL

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our family and friends out there.  John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(  The temperature stayed around 50 degrees most of the day.  There are a few winter advisories for snow again in some of the northern counties of Mississippi.

My day consisted of household chores and, of course, my daily Wii workout.    Later in the afternoon I picked up Marcy and we went shopping for a birthday gift for our niece’s three year old girl. She will be having a birthday party tomorrow at Chuck E. Cheese.

For dinner I picked up some grilled chicken salads from Zaxby’s and an ice cream cake from Wal-mart and headed to the fire station.  We finished watching the Daytona 500, then had ice cream cake and played a round of 10 Penny.  John won.

Bye Bye Snow.

John will be at the mall from 3 to 11 today. :(  He slept in late this morning since he will be at the mall so late tonight.  The temperatures were warmer today…..40 degrees was the high.  Most of the snow has just about melted away.  It was pretty while it was here.  Lots of people made snowmen and took pictures to send in to the newspaper.  I know this might sound funny to those who get snow all the time but for the Southerners it is an event to document. LOL

No news from the realtor today regarding the person who wanted to look at the house for a second time.  Oh well,  better luck next time. :(  Maybe it was the weather!!!!

Snow, Snow, Snow

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(  I started my day off with my Wii workout.  I am happy to see that I have lost 2.5 pounds already.  I feel energized when I get finished on the Wii.

Later this afternoon I picked up Bob and Marcy and we headed over to Kohl’s so Marcy could spend her Kohl’s cash before it expired.   I went along to look for a new coat or jacket since I do not have a heavy one.  I came across a down filled jacket that originally cost $150.00 and was marked down to $30.00.  Since Marcy did not want anything in the store she gave me her Kohl’s cash to apply to the cost of my jacket. Wow…..I got the jacket for $21.40!  What a bargain.  Sherri and Leslie would be proud. LOL

After our shopping spree we returned to Bob and Marcy’s and played a couple rounds of 10 Penny and waited for the snow that was supposed to start falling.  Shortly before 9:00 p.m. the snow started falling lightly.  The weatherman has predicted anywhere from three to six inches of snow to fall between tonight and tomorrow.  This is very unusual for our area.  People go crazy buying groceries hoping to get snowed in. LOL  There are already some businesses and schools reporting closures for tomorrow.

Cradlepoint

I worked the mall today 7a-1p then headed home to call Cradlepoint. The new Cradlepoint they sent was not the one I had so they are shipping another one. Bridget had a doctors appointment with her dermatologist for 3p, all is well. Just finished watching American Idol. Not a whole lot going on.
Weather guessers on the 9pm news are saying we may get up to 3-6" in Jackson Thursday night and Friday.

Crystal Springs

John worked part of the day at the mall then got off early and headed over to Crystal Springs to install a new microwave/convection oven for his mother.  One of the firefighters, Russell, went with him to help with the installation and also to look at the leaking roof over their storage room.

I polished furniture and got the laundry done while John was away. In between the household chores I worked out with the Wii Fit Plus.  I feel muscles that I forgot I had. LOL

I talked to my friend Leslie today who has been feeling poorly.  I am so glad to hear that she is feeling better. Sure hope we will be able to see all our RV buddies real soon.

Leftover BBQ Ribs

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(    No news from the house showings over the weekend except that someone will be looking at the house again for a second time this Saturday.  :)  We are keeping our fingers crossed.

I brought John some leftover BBQ ribs, potato salad and beans for dinner and stayed to play a round of 10 Penny with the guys.  It is always good entertainment.

Super Bowl Sunday

The super bowl is about the only football game we watch all year. Bob, Marcy, Robert and Kelsey came oven to watch the game and eat. I made ribs along with habanaro chicken wings, deer sausage, and baked beans. Bridget made potato salad and deviled eggs. The house with the exception of Marcy were cheering for the Saints and were happy with the outcome. It was a great game.
Today was basically a stay at home day with one Walmart trip thrown in.

Casino Fun

Today, Annie, Terry, Bob, Marcy, John and I went to the Silver Star Casino as a birthday gift to Marcy. We had lunch at the casino’s buffet and gambled a little. Unfortunately, John had to leave early to work at the mall. :( His work is never done!!! I know he wants to retire soon.

Another realtor called today and someone looked at the house. Hope someone makes an offer soon. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

Happy Birthday Marcy

Yesterday John worked at the FD for a 24 hour shift. My sister, Annie and I spent the day with our Mom and Dad, Marcy and Bob as it was Marcy’s birthday.

A realtor called and showed the house yesterday afternoon. Yeah!!

My Wii Fit Plus package came in the mail today so after bringing John dinner to the FD I went back home to set it up. I worked out for a while and completely forgot to do the blog. Shame on me!!!!

We received a request from someone who read our blog who wants my Turkey Meatloaf Recipe. Sorry it took so long. I got carried away on the Wii Fitness exercise stuff. Here is the recipe:

Turkey Meatloaf Again!

John off today. Yeah!!! Rain, rain, rain…..all day long. It is supposed to be gone tomorrow.

John made apple pancakes for breakfast. They were yummy. Later on we made a Wal-Mart run for groceries. Since it was a rainy day with not much to do I decided I would cook my spaghetti meat sauce and another turkey meatloaf. I freeze the spaghetti sauce for later so I can pull it out when I don’t feel like cooking or don’t have alot of time. John liked the turkey meatloaf I cooked the other night so much that I cooked another one. He was happy. LOL

Tomorrow is my mom, Marcy’s birthday so I am baking a birthday cake tonight for her.

Happy Birthday Bill

Home from the FD, off from mall today and tomorrow. Today is my brother Bill's birthday, Happy birthday Bill. We called him this morning, he works on the Mississippi River running barges up and down. He happened to be off and at home. He lives in Waldron, AR with his wife Tambra. He said they have gotten snowed on over the last few weeks. They are both fine which was good to hear.

Got our tax stuff together, waiting on one item for Bridget's retirement income. They said it was mailed last Thursday, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

Bank and credit union errands and ordered a convection oven for my mom's house, it will be here Tuesday.

The Cradlepoint shipped out today. Bridget and I are sharing the aircard until we get the new CP, should arrive Friday.

Tomorrow we have a 100% chance of rain.

More 10 Penny

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(  The temperatures are warmer today with no rain.  The weather man says the rain be coming our way by Thursday at the latest.

I cooked golden mushroom chicken for dinner and rode over to the fire station to bring it to John.  As usual, we ended up playing a round of 10 Penny.

On my way home I stopped off to see Bob and Marcy and we decided to play a round of 10 Penny also.  I lost really bad. LOL

Turkey Meatloaf

John at the mall to day 3 to 11. :(  Temperatures were warmer today but the rain moved in this afternoon…. just enough to make the roads messy.

Received a call from my sister Annie this afternoon.  Her husband Terry got ready to go to to work at Nissan for his 3 to 11 shift and his truck would not start.  She had to leave work and give him her car so I drove over to her house to give her a ride back to work.  Later I went back and picked her up from work and invited her to eat dinner with us.  We had turkey meatloaf, brown rice and green beans.  It was quite tasty. We are trying to eat healthier so we are eating more turkey and less red meat these days.
