Dinner with the family.

Tuesday night bad weather moved into our area.  Rain with 80 mile an hour winds were expected between 9:00 p.m. and midnight so we pulled in the slides and spent the night at my sister’s house.  Luckily it didn’t get as bad as the weatherman thought.  We returned home Wednesday morning and everything was fine.

Wednesday night the  family gathered at Logan’s Roadhouse for dinner.  We were trying to get everyone together before we head off on our travels.  Looks like we will be here a little longer as we still have a few things left to get done…..taxes and fun stuff like that.  Oh yeah!!!

Dinner with Dawg and Connie.

John off today. Yeah!  Annie and Terry came by for a visit earlier today.  The weather was great……temperatures in the 60s and sunny skies.  My kind of weather.

I got a new camera so I decided to try it out.

Later on John and I went to firefighter Nathan “Dawg” and Connie’s.  Nathan prepared some delicious steaks, twice baked potatoes, green beans and garlic bread.  Very very tasty.  Thanks Dawg and Connie for a wonderful meal.

Afterwards we gathered around for a round of golf.   It was a tight game but John came out the winner.

Dinner with Bo and Kay.

Still enjoying warm weather with no rain or no real rain that is.  We had a few sprinkles but that is all.  John worked at the mall from 7 to 3 today.

Tonight our friends Bo and Kay came by and picked us up for dinner.  We ate at a local BBQ place called Dickey’s.   This was our first time to eat there.  I don’t remember it being here last year when we came home.  John and Bo had ribs with sides and Kay and I had BBQ sandwiches with sides.  The food was very good….very tender meat.  Sorry I don’t have pictures.  I have a new camera and the batteries were home in the charger.

Thank you Bo and Kay for a nice dinner and a great night out.

New cabinet upstairs.

We are still enjoying warm temperatures and sunshine.  It is most welcomed after all the rain we had.  John purchased a small refrigerator for drinks and friend/firefighter Marc Moore came over yesterday to build a cabinet for it.  The refrigerator was placed under the dishwasher in the closet upstairs next to the washer/dryer.  Thanks Marc for building the cabinet.

While they were busy with the cabinet I was sorting through items from when I  cleaned out the bedroom closet and other cabinets earlier this morning.  Not my favorite job but it becomes a necessity. LOL   After completing that task I took a load of stuff over to Good Will.  We had a very busy day.

Early surprise birthday lunch for Marcy.

We are still enjoying sunny warm weather.  I hope it stays around for a while.

Today we all gathered at Annie and Terry’s for an early surprise birthday lunch for Marcy.  Her birthday is February 5th but we may be on the road then so we decided to surprise her.  We had grilled chicken and lots of sides……. and of course a birthday cake.

Snow in Mississippi.

Last night John and I were invited to have dinner with friends Nathan and Connie. Nathan prepared grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, corn, green beans and cheddar bay biscuits.  It was very very tasty.  After dinner we played a round of Golf and John was the winner.  Thanks Nathan and Connie for a very nice dinner.

This morning we woke up to 32 degrees and snow.

As you can see there isn’t much accumulation of snow in the park.  Temperatures rose into the 40s so the snow melted away.  Other parts of Mississippi received up to 2 inches of snow.  As usual when the “snow event” happens the schools close.

Today I had lunch with friend and former co-worker Lea Anne.  I have not seen her in about two years so it was nice to catch up with her.  Thank you Lea Anne for lunch.

Early Birthday dinner for Kelsey.

It started raining again here today.  The worst part of it is the temperature is beginning to drop.  Needless to say I am not a happy camper. LOL

Tonight John and I met Robert, Kelsey and Ava for an early birthday dinner for Kelsey at Friday Tuna’s.  This was our first time to eat at this place.  We enjoyed it very much the food and service were both very good.  I took several pictures but some of them are blurry.  I think my camera is on it’s last leg.  It has been dropped a few times.

Lunch with Charlotte.

The weather over the past few days has really sucked.  All we have had is rain, rain and more rain.   It has made it very difficult to keep Fred’s healing paw dry when he goes outside.  He is tired of us putting a zip lock bag on his paw.  Poor doggie.  Yesterday John took Fred back for another checkup.  Because the wound is holding moisture with the bandage she took it off and sent Fred home with one of those awful cone shaped collars.  Fred was not a happy camper.

Today Fred is pretty well today.

Annie and I met our friend Charlotte for lunch today.  We have known Charlotte since middle school and try to get together whenever we can.  We had a great time catching up and reminiscing about old times.

Bob and Marcy have both had the flu and are now recovering from secondary infections.  The doctor told them that a lot of the people who are getting the flu are also experiencing the same type of  infections afterwards.  Also, people who have taken the flu shot are getting the flu.  Strange stuff.   We hope everyone who is sick gets to feeling better real soon.

Last week we received news that one of my cousins in Texas had a massive stroke and was diagnosed as having Locked-in-Syndrome.  Sadly, he passed away Thursday  night.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to all our family and friends.  We wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year.

It has rained here all day long and the ground is saturated.  Very nasty.  Fred is not liking it.  John put saran wrap around his bandage so it wouldn’t get wet.  He goes back to the vet tomorrow to get the bandage removed.  I don’t know if they will replace it with a new one or not.  He won’t be getting the stitches out for another eight days or so.

Today we had the typical New Year’s lunch.  Roast, rice and gravy, cabbage, black-eyed peas and cornbread.
