Holy Trinity Monastery, Boot Hill, Tombstone and Bisbee.

John and I joined Roger and  Barb for some sightseeing today.   Our first stop was the Holy Trinity Monastery in St. David, AZ.  Such a beautiful and peaceful place.

Our next stop was Boot Hill Cemetery in Tombstone.  John and I were here two years ago and found it to be very interesting.

Next we were off to visit the rest of Tombstone and have some lunch.  We chose the Longhorn Restaurant.  An interesting place with lots of character and tasty burgers.

Our last stop of the day was Bisbee.  We walked through the shops then visited Queen Mine/Lavender Pit Mine.  I guess you could say this is Bisbee's Grand Canyon.  Wow!  What a whole in the ground.

We had a great time taking in all the sights. By the end of the day I think we were all exhausted.

Breakfast with Chuck and Kathy.

Chuck and Kathy left this morning heading to their next destination.  We met at the Horse Shoe Cafe for breakfast for one last goodbye before they hit the road.  Safe travels Chuck and Kathy we will miss you.

After finishing his breakfast the waitress stopped by the table and asked John if he needed anything else since his plate was empty and everyone else was still eating.  She offered him a slice of pie and he asked what kind.  She started reciting the options and when he heard coconut cream he had to have it.

John taking a bite of his pie.
John said this was the best coconut cream pie he has ever eaten.  After taking a bite he did his happy shiver.  Anyone who knows John knows he loves a good piece of pie.

I finally got around to taking a picture of our site.

I like our site with this cool looking cactus.  They say when a saguaro cactus has arms it is at least 75 years old.  Wow!  I guess this one has been here quite a while.

Our friends Roger and Barb are parked on the site next to us.

The day started out with a mild 59 degrees but that quickly changed.  The skies turned gray, the winds kicked up and we even had a few sprinkles.  The worst part was the temperature started dropping.  I think the low for tonight is 35 degrees.  I am not liking that.

This afternoon we met Roger and Barb's friends J.V. and Carolyn and their two dogs Chase and Bitsy.
It was nice meeting them.

Tomorrow we plan to do some sightseeing so hopefullly the weather will cooperate.  I think it is supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees by tomorrow afternoon.  I sure hope so.

Moving on to Benson, AZ.

Yesterday Roger and Barb and John and I had lunch with friends John and Janet Chartier.  They drove over from Demming, NM.  Can't believe it has been almost three years since we have seen them.   We had lunch at a place called K-Bobs.  The food so so but the visit was great.

Janet, Barb, Me, John, Roger and John C.

Since we had an appointment to have the windshield fixed that meant we were up very early this morning.

The sunrise this morning.  I am not usually up this early so a sunrise picture is a rarity for me.

We were on the road before  8:00 a.m.  The trip was uneventful with the exception of gusting winds here and there.   There were lots of RVers on the road today.   I wonder if they are headed to the Escapees rally.

John dropped Fred and I off in Benson at Bob and Barb's for a visit while he was getting the windshield fixed.   Fred was glad to see his friend Gypsy again.

Tonight Roger and Barb and John and I had dinner with our friends Bob and Barb and Chuck and Kathy.   It has been a while since we were all together so we had lots of catching up to do.  Thank you Bob and Barb and Chuck and Kathy for a delicious dinner and dessert.   We had a wonderful time.

Lots of wind and a rock to windshield and RV friends.

Friday morning we left Kerrville, TX and traveled to Van Horn, TX.  The wind was blowing hard and the trip was uneventful except for a rock to the windshield.   That did not make our day.
Scenery from the road.
Rock to the windshield just as that 18 wheeler passed us.
When we stopped for fuel Fred jumped up into the driver's seat.  I think he would like to drive.

We stayed at Southern Star RV park for the night.  It is a small park but very nice. It even had a fenced dog run.  Fred enjoyed that.
Our site at Southern Star RV Park.  Roger and Barb were parked next to us.   Not much greenery around these parts.

Saturday morning we were up and back on the road before 9:00 a.m.   Our destination Las Cruces, NM.  The wind was not as bad today.  Yeah!    I took a few pictures as we passed through El Paso.

By lunch time were all set up at Sunny Acres RV Park in Las Cruces, NM.   A very nice park and it also has a fenced dog run.

Tonight Roger, Barb and John and I joined our friends Ron and Donna for dinner at Cha Chi's.  The food was great and the company better.  A huge thank you to Ron and Donna for treating us to such a delicious meal.  We enjoyed sharing travel stores and catching up.  Hope to see them down the road again real soon.

Family and Friends.

Eventhough it rained all day Monday we decided to ride over to Beaumont and check out some of the places I lived as a child.  Wow how things have changed.

This is the last house we lived in before moving to Mississippi in 1971.  The front of the house looks totally different.  When I was a child this house looked very large to me.
This is the last place my dad worked before we moved.  The building is there but the business is closed.

Before heading back to the campground we stopped by my Uncle's Alternator shop to visit with cousin Theresa.  It has been a long time since I have seen her.
Theresa and me.

Tuesday morning we headed out to Kerrville.  We caught up with Roger and Barb and met our friend Arlene for lunch.

John, me, Arlene, Barb and Roger at Hinze BBQ.  It was good to see Arlene and catch up.  The BBQ was very tasty.

After lunch we continued on to Kerrville.  We reached our destination by late afternoon and contacted friends Mike and Leslie for dinner.  We met at Mamacita's Restaurant and enjoyed some good Mexican food.  We were so engrossed with our conversations that we didn't realize it was almost closing time.  The waitress started picking up the salt and pepper shakers so we decided to go on home.

Wednesday we drove over to Canyon Lake to visit with Uncle Michael and Aunt Sylvia. They took us to Fredericksburg for some, sightseeing, shopping and lunch at Wheeler's.  Thank you Uncle Michael and Aunt Sylvia for a fun day.

Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Micheal.

Today was our last day in Kerrville which meant catching up on laundry and getting other household chores done.  John went over to help Roger with some repairs to his motorhome while Barb and I made a grocery run.

Tonight we all went to Mike and Leslie's for dinner.  It has been almost two years since we have seen them so it was great seeing them again.  Thanks Mike and Leslie for a fantastic dinner.
