Cousins, Aunts, an Uncle and Friends.

We have been very busy since our arrival in Texas last Tuesday.  Our first stop was Woodville, Texas where we stayed at Tripple Creek RV Music Park with friends Roger and Barb Maxey.  They introduced us to their group of friends who were attending a gathering at the park.  Very nice people.  So glad we got to meet them.  

I have lots of relatives who live in Texas and especially in the areas we are staying in so we were able to visit with some of them.  A huge thank you to all of them for the great food and fun times.

Yesterday Roger, Barb, John and I visited with our friends Mac and Netters who are gate guarding a few miles from our campground.  It is always fun getting together with them.  It has been almost two years since we saw them last.  We had a great time and hope to see them down the road real soon.

This morning we moved on to our second stop, Boomtown RV Park in Vidor, TX.

Happy Birthday Shelby.

Our youngest grandbaby, Shelby turned one year old today.  We celebrated her birthday this past Sunday with family and friends.

This morning we were up early and Texas bound.  Our trip was uneventful and we arrived without any mishaps.   Yeah!!!!

Off we go.  It was rather cold this morning but soon warmed up nicely.  John quickly discarded that jacket.

After getting settled in we drove over to visit with friends Mac and Netters who are working at a gate guarding job nearby.  It was great catching up with them.  We plan to see them again before we leave this area.

Last night our old friend and former neighbor, Jodi and her new puppy Skipper joined us for supper.  It has been many years since we have seen her.  We enjoyed catching up with her and getting to know Skipper.  Skipper is such a sweet little dog.  I know she will make a great companion for Jodi.

Dinner with Susan and Norman

John was off yesterday so we ran a few errands and stopped off at the chiriopractor's office for much needed adjustments.  John's lower back was bothering him and my neck and hip was bothering me.  We felt much better when we left.   Sure wish chiropractic services were covered by our health insurance.  That would really make me happy.

Last night we had a special treat.  Friends of the family, Susan and Norman invited us for dinner.  They have purchased a motorhome and have enjoyed a few trips in it.  They are looking forward to taking more trips when they are both retired. It was so good to see them and share travel stories.  Thank you Susan and Norman for a wonderful dinner.   We hope to see you down the road real soon.

Hello out there....

I know it has been quite a while since the last post.  We are still in Mississippi.  John is still working at the Renaissance Mall and our doctor appointments are just about complete. We are always happy to get that chore behind us.

Christmas Day was spent at Bob and Marcy's.  We had a very nice quiet dinner and just chilled out and enoyed the day.  Mom Hatch arrived that afternoon and spent a couple weeks with us.   As the new year approached so did the below freezing weather.  Temperatures actually fell to 15 and 16 degrees a couple of days and a pretty good bit of rain in between.  I was so NOT liking that.   Even though the weather was so nasty we were able to take Mom Hatch out for a spa day.

Fred received lots of attention from Mom Hatch and, of course, he was eating it up. 

He is so spoiled. 

Last Saturday, Bob, Marcy and John and I traveled to Philadelphia, Mississippi.  We had plans to eat dinner at the Silver Star Casino then drive 30 miles to a place called Sciple's Water Mill Opry for some entertainment.  The Sciple family owns one of the few remaining water powered grist mills in the county that still operates for profit.  The Sciple's also host the Sciple's Water Mill Opry on Saturday nights.  When we arrived at the Water Mill Opry everything was dark and there was a note on the door saying they were closed until further notice due to illness.  After that we returned to the casino and played for a while then went back home. 

This week I had lunch at the Corner Bakery with two of my friends and former co-workers. It was great catching up with them.

Our youngest grandbaby, Shelby will be celebrating her first birthday on February 10th.  Since that falls on a week day her party will be on Sunday, February 8th.

We will be leaving Mississippi in February and making our way to Tuscon, AZ for the Escapees Rally.  Safe travels to all our fellow RVers who are on the road in route to the rally.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all our family and friends. We finally got the motorhome back on Tuesday.  Dependable RV did a fabulous job with the repairs.  We are all set up at Movietown RV park in Canton, Mississippi.  We were lucky enough to get a site right across from the wifi tower.  Yea!!  John moved a few things that afternoon.  It was a rainy day so we didn't get much done.

Yesterday my mom and I cooked and got things ready for the Christmas Eve family get together.  John took another load of our stuff to the motorhome.  We spent the night in it that night.  It is amazing how much stuff you need when your "home" is in the repair shop.  I don't want to do this again anytime soon.  A big thank you to my mom and dad (Bob and Marcy) for letting us, Fred included, stay with them these last few weeks.  We really apreciated their hospitality. 

Since our last blog post we have visited with the grand-babies, I quit my Williams Sonoma job and Fred had his dental cleaning.  My bad foot was not able to withstand the long hours on the concrete floor and all the running back and forth.  While the vet was cleaning Fred's teeth he found two growths in his mouth. We are waiting for the biopsy results.  Fred is 10 years old and is doing well otherwise.

Motorhome goes to repair shop.

December 1st John took the motorhome to the repair shop.  We were told it may take one and a half to two weeks to complete all the repairs.  Bob and Marcy have been kind enough to take us in during this time, along with Fred.   Fred seems to be adjusting well.  

I have had a foot problem for a while and wouldn't you know it become worse since I started working at Williams Sonoma.  The pain was so bad I ended up going to one of the local MEA clinics and the doctor prescibed pain meds and gave me an anti-inflammatory shot.  He also scheduled an appointment for me to see a foot specialst on December 4th.  After additional X-rays and another examination I was told I have MTP Synovitis (Metatarsophalangeal Synovitis) which is a sharp or aching pain in the ball of the foot that is most often centered beneath the base of the second toe. In my case the worst pain starts at the third and fourth toes.  The doctor told me to google it and read about it.  I read that the pain is an indication that the bone at the base of the toe, called the proximal phalanx, may be beginning to separate from the long bone of the foot, called the metatarsal.  That sounds ominous to me.  I felt worse about it after reading it. LOL  The doctor prescibed Voltaren Gel four times a day and placed a Metarsal Pad inside my work shoe.  I haven't noticed much of an improvement but it has only been three days.  Of course standing on my feet at work does not help.

On a happier note, we have been enjoying time with the grandbabies.

Yesterday Mom and I took Ava to see the City of Ridgeland's Christmas Parade.  She was so exited and enjoyed getting lots of candy and beads.

John and I are both off today so I think we will  just relax for a while.
