Dinner with Roger and Barb.

Today we travelled to Duson, LA.  The trip was uneventful but I-10 was very rough.  We were glad to get off of it for the day.  Tonight Roger and Barb drove over and we all went out for dinner.  Roger and Barb are familiar with the area so they took us to Posados Mexican Restaurant.  The food was delicious.  We enjoyed our visit with them and look forward to seeing them down the road at the 2013 Escapades.

Later in the night heavy rain moved in along with high winds and a little hail.  Fred was not liking that at all.

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  Our destination will be Vidor, TX.

The weather here has been a  little on the cold side and very windy.   We drove over to Gulfport to visit with my friend and former co-worker Marty.  It has been a few years since I’ve seen her so we had a lot of catching up to do.  We both worked for the City of Jackson and went to lunch everyday together until she retired.  Lunch time was always an adventure with lots of laughs. LOL

Marty and me.  We look like we are about to get into some mischief. LOL

When we arrived at Marty’s she had a fantastic BBQ lunch ready.  We spent the afternoon catching up on all the current news and then reminisced over old times.  Before we knew it it was dark outside and time to head back home.  Thank you Marty for a great meal and a wonderful visit.

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  We will be traveling to Duson, LA where we will be meeting our friends Roger and Barb. It will be good to see them again.  We haven’t seen them since the 2012 Escapades.

Visiting with cousin Kathy and her family.

My cousin Kathy and her family drove down to Pass Christian last night for the weekend.   This morning they came over and visited for a while then we decided to go out for lunch.  We decided on White Cap Seafood Restaurant.  The last time John and I ate at White Cap was before Katrina took it away.  Glad to see they rebuilt.  John and I split a shrimp po-boy.  It was delicious.
Tonight we met Kathy and her family at their favorite seafood place, Shaggy’s.   This is a very cool place to eat located right on the water.  John ordered the fried shrimp and I chose the special, blackened amberjack with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.  Everything was very tasty.  Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the plates.

Pass Christian, MS.

Today we traveled on to Pass Christian, MS.  We were on the road before noon.  The trip was uneventful and we arrived just before 2:00 p.m.  The last time we stayed in this park it was in need of repair.  That was before Hurricane Katrina.  I was happy to see improvements have been made to the park.

The weather was very nice so we were able to leave the door open.  Fred took advantage of the open door and got in a little “neighbor watching”.

Tomorrow my cousin Kathy and her family will be in town and we plan to meet up with them.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all our family and friends out there.  Hope everyone had a great day.

We woke up to 35 degrees.  It soon heated up to a nice 70.  I was liking that.

John spent most of the morning fixing broken latches on a few cabinets.  When he was finished with that he put up my newest decoration from Hobby Lobby.  Yeah!

This afternoon we had to make a Wal-Mart run and drove around Hattiesburg again.  We got a few more pictures.

On to Hattiesburg, MS.

Today was travel day for us. Hard to believe we have been in Mississippi since October 31st. We were all packed up and down the road before lunch.  The trip was uneventful with the exception of a small traffic jam due to, what appeared to be, a fallen light pole.  We arrived around 2:30 and were setup shortly thereafter.  The grounds in the park are very muddy from all the rain.  Ucky!

After getting setup we drove around Hattiesburg.  The damage from the tornado was extensive in some areas.  So sad to see what some people lost.

Tonight John and I ate at our favorite BBQ place in Hattiesburg…..Leatha’s.  He had the ribs and I had the pulled pork.  It was very very tasty.

My sister Annie and I spent the day running around and going to all our favorite stores.  Of course we picked up a few new outfits for Ava.  All that running around will make you hungry so we decided to stop for lunch at a local place called Grant’s Kitchen.  They serve plate lunches and have a wide variety of meats and vegetables as well as a salad bar.  Very tasty food.

Tonight John and I met up with Doug, Leslie, Tyler and Tatum at Jerry’s Catfish house for dinner.  John got his catfish fix one more time before we leave town.  We had a great time and enjoyed visiting with them.

Happy Birthday Marcy and Harold Hatch, III.

Happy 75th Birthday to my mom (Marcy).  We went over to their house to have cake and ice cream and, of course, to play cards.  I think I came in last or next to last.  Maybe we need a rematch. LOL

We finally got around to getting our bikes from storage.  They had flat tires and the gears needed lubricating but otherwise they seem ok.  We are getting all our last minute stuff ready for the road.

Dinner with the family.

Tuesday night bad weather moved into our area.  Rain with 80 mile an hour winds were expected between 9:00 p.m. and midnight so we pulled in the slides and spent the night at my sister’s house.  Luckily it didn’t get as bad as the weatherman thought.  We returned home Wednesday morning and everything was fine.

Wednesday night the  family gathered at Logan’s Roadhouse for dinner.  We were trying to get everyone together before we head off on our travels.  Looks like we will be here a little longer as we still have a few things left to get done…..taxes and fun stuff like that.  Oh yeah!!!
