Imperial National Wildlife Refuge and Jojoba Hills.

Sunday afternoon we arrived at Imperial National Wildlife Refuge and checked in with our friend Judy.  We haven't seen Judy since we all worked at Tamarac Wildlife Refuge.  So good to see her and Emma again.  Thank you Judy for a delicous dinner Monday night.  We hope to see you in Oregon.

Judy and Emma.

We pulled out Tuesday morning and were off again.  This time to visit friends Chuck and Kathy in Joboa Hills.   In honor of St. Patrick's Day Kathy prepared reuben sandwiches and potatoe salad. They were very tasty.  We even had time to get in a game of 10 Penny.  Chuck was the winner with a low score of 90 points.  Way to go Chuck.

Chuck and Kathy's outdoor room.  Love it.
Chuck's outdoor kitchen.  Very cool.

John and Chuck.

Thank you Chuck and Kathy for your hospitality, great food and laughs.

This morning after saying our goodbyes we were off to Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort in Oceano, CA.    As we rolled down Highway 79 I was able to get a few pictures of the statues Kathy told me about. The pictures were taken through the windshield and you can tell it needs to be cleaned.

I was glad to finally see some greenery.   The desert is ok but I prefer more green landscapes.  Our trip was uneventful and we reached our destination around 3:00 p.m.

After dinner tonight we took a drive along Pismo Beach to catch the sunset.

A drive on Pismo Beach.

I love to watch the birds run along the water.

Beautiful scenery.  There were quite a few people at the beach.  As we were leaving we noticed two young men who had gotten their truck stuck in the sand.  John stopped and asked it they needed to be pulled out.  They were very appreciative.  One of them said, "We don't have this sand in Germany." By their accent we could tell they were from another country.

Our last stop before returning home was a local ice cream shop called The Scoop.  We both had milkshakes.  They were yummy.   We hope to get in more sightseeing tomorrow.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. Nice to see pics of Pismo Beach. My uncle lived in nearby Grover City for many years.

  3. I'm assuming you are heading for Montana...right? What a beautiful part of the country..Washington State has a "Swiss Alps" town I think it's called Leavenworth..in a gorgeous area...I'm also wondering if Mt. St. Helen still shows damage from the eruption year ago..
