Huntington Beach State Park

The temperatures in Myrtle Beach have ranged from warm to cold since we have been here.  Thursday it was very windy but warm so John and I ventured out to Huntington Beach State Park.  Our first stop in the park was the nature center.  The exhibits were nicely laid out.

Horseshoe crab.
Ain't this little guy cute?  He turned and faced me just in time to have his picture taken.

Of course there were snakes....
and turtles and .......
other fish....and....
an alligator.
This is the boardwalk behind the nature center.

Then.....on to the beach...

Our last stop was The Atalaya located inside the park.

If you are in the area check it out.  It is very unique and interesting.

John at the entrance.

I found it interesting that there were no guest rooms in this house.  The home was used as their "get-a-way" from the pressures life and only the Huntinington's, their staff and servants lived there.  Well, that is, with the exception of pets and animals Anna Hyatt Hungtington used as subjects for sculpting.

This is the sign above the dog kennel.  Across from it were the kennels which housed larger animals.

A very enjoyable afternoon.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.
