Trip to Thompson Falls.

Today Aunt Eloise, John and I took a road trip to Thompson Falls, MT.  John’s cousin Cindy lives there and he has not seen her since he was around nine years old.  Our first stop in Thompson Falls was the local park.

This funny looking tree was at the entrance of the park.  Don’t know what kind of tree it is but it sure looks funny.

Here is a closer look at the tree.  If anyone knows what this is we would love to know.

After a tour of the park we met John’s cousin Cindy for lunch at a local restaurant called Little Bear.   It serves sandwiches, salads and ice cream.   They use all fresh ingredients and everything is made as you order so don’t get in a hurry if you eat there.  The food is good and worth the wait.   Thanks Aunt Eloise for treating us to lunch.

I took this picture after I was almost finished with the sandwich.   Look at all that fresh fruit.  It was delicious.

Happy Birthday Frank

Happy Birthday to my friend and former co-worker Frank.  Hope he had a great birthday today.

John spent a portion of his morning on the phone with GE, the Body Shop and the Insurance company.  How much fun can you have in a day?  He found out that GE has scheduled the repair for the convection oven in Gillette, WY not Kalispell, MT.  Now something just doesn’t make sense here.  John first called GE when we were in Thayne, WY, told them we would not be in Gillette, WY until August.  GE said they could not schedule an appointment that far in advance and  told him to call to set up an appointment when we reached Kalispell, MT and they could schedule it during our stay in that area.  Ok, today when he called for an update he was told an appointment has been scheduled for Gillette, WY.  What is up with that?  I think they are confused.  Oh, well I guess they will be calling us back.

We found out today that the estimate was faxed to the insurance adjuster so we are waiting to hear back from the insurance company as to when we can take the RV in for repairs.  Glad to hear the ball is rolling on that.

Today UPS delivered our new shades for the RV. Yeah!!!  Now maybe they will all match.  We haven’t opened the box yet but it can wait for another day. LOL

Tonight John and I went over to Aunt Eloise’s for another visit.  While there John cut a path into the woods until the mower gave out.   Aunt Eloise fixed beef stroganoff and vegetable stir fry for dinner.   Very tasty.

Of course the night would not be complete without a game of  10 Penny.  Surprise, surprise……I actually won. LOL

Walk through downtown, Lone Pine State Park and Baseball.

Aunt Eloise picked us up this morning to give us a tour of downtown Kalispell. We walked through lots of stores browsing at merchandise mostly. One of the stores sold items made in Montana only it was called Think Local. Some of the unique items were vases and floral arrangements made from old fence posts and bowls and vases made from used lassos from rodeos. Another store, called Western Outdoor sold Western wear on the top floor and antiques in the basement. Lots of cool old stuff.

By the time we got through walking around it was lunch time. Aunt Eloise treated us to her favorite place, Saigon Garden. The restaurant features Vietnamese and Asian entrees. Food and service were both good. Thanks Aunt Eloise for a tasty lunch.

After our lunch we went to Lone Pine State Park to view the scenery.

Tonight John and I attended Aunt Eloise’s grandson, Nathaniel’s baseball game. After the game we all went back to her house for cake and ice cream.

Oh, by the way, the GE repairman never called to set up the appointment today. So much for 24 hour call return. LOL

Estimate for repairs.

After leaving Lakeside this morning we took the RV to Special Effects to get an estimate to repair the damages. The body shop owner said the damage was cosmetic only and that he will get pricing for the parts to give to the insurance company. Now we are waiting on the insurance adjuster.

Our next stop was Rocky Mountain Hi Campground in Kalispell. We got settled in then made a Wal-Mart run for some much needed items then back to the RV for lunch. The next order of business was contacting GE to make an appointment to get the convection oven fixed. John was on the phone for a while trying to get a human to talk to instead of the automated crap. When he finally got through the guy told him he had sent an order to have someone set up a time for the repair…..within 24 hours. Yeah right, like I really believe that will happen. Oh well, time will tell. LOL

Tonight John and I went back over to visit with Aunt Eloise. She prepared a delicious dinner of sausage, rice, garden salad, fresh strawberries and a coconut cake. Thanks for dinner Aunt Eloise. After dinner we played two rounds of 10 Penny. John won the first one and Aunt Eloise won the second. Me, well I came in last. LOL

Aunt Eloise has a green thumb. I couldn’t resist taking a couple pictures of her flowers.

Visiting with Aunt Eloise.

Slept in til around 9:00 this morning.  Fred must have been tired to let us sleep so late. LOL   After breakfast John called the insurance company to file a claim.  He was informed that a claims agent will be calling him back shortly for  additional information.  Before the hour was up the claims agent had called and set the ball in motion.  We were pleasantly surprised.  Tomorrow we are taking the RV to Special Effects to get an estimate for repairs then we will move on to Rocky Mountain Hi Campground in Kalispell.

This afternoon John and I visited with his Aunt Eloise.  It has been about 15 years since we have seen her.  We had a lot of catching up to do.  She lives out in the country where the dear roam about all day.

Mobile Suites meet rock!

Today was a travel day for us. We said our “see ya laters” to the Idaho Gang before we set off for Montana. We will miss them and look forward to seeing them all again in about three weeks.
The scenery was beautiful and I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures while riding down the road.

Later this afternoon we pulled into Flathead Lake Big Arm State Park. They were full so we drove on to Flathead Lake West Shore State Park. Got into the campground and the sign read "No vehicles over 25 feet beyond this point". The sign would have been helpful at the entrance. Got turned around and started out and Bridget said it sounded like we drove under a tree limb, and it did, so I looked up and, no limb. Humm? Got out and walked around and found this.

The temporary repair

I must have caught the rock just past the slide and under the compartment door and the back cap. The tree limb sound must have been the fiberglass tearing. Calling the insurance company in the morning. We are parked at Edgewater RV Park in Lakeside, MT. What a day!

Trip to Mesa Falls

Woke up to another day of blue skies and sunshine.  John got busy cleaning out the basement.  Yeah!  It really needed it.

Early this afternoon Mac and Netters came by and picked us up to ride over and see Mesa Falls.  The falls were beautiful and we didn’t have to hike too far too see them.  Took lots of pictures.

Tonight the Idaho Gang gathered for dinner at our usual picnic table.  We had two pasta dishes, one with mushrooms and one without mushrooms, green salad, steamed carrots, baked bread and a chocolate dessert with white frosting.  Everything was yummy.

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us.  We will miss our friends but look forward to seeing them again in about three weeks.  We have enjoyed our adventures with them while in Idaho.

Mack’s Inn Playhouse

Tonight the Idaho Gang went to Mack’s Inn Playhouse for dinner and a play.  The name of the play was Home School Musical with the characters being played by the local talent.  Very talented and entertaining people.  We laughed a lot and the food was delicious.   Dinner was at 6:15 and the play began at 7:00.  I was thinking the play might last an hour to an hour and a half but it lasted two hours with an intermission.  We sure got our money’s worth.  A great night out.
