Ocracoke Island

Happy Birthday to our friend Stephanie in Myrtle Beach.  Hope she had a great day today.  Fred is missing his favorite neighbors.

Up early this morning and off to Swan Quarters to catch the ferry to Ocracoke Island.  The drive took just a little over an hour and the ferry ride was two and a half hours. The last time we visited Ocracoke Island was in 2004  when I retired the first time.

We arrived in Ocracoke just in time for lunch and decided to revisit Howard’s Pub just like in 2004.  John and I chose the Hungry Howard Seafood Platter to split.  It was enough to fill us up.  On my way out I stopped by the T-Shirt counter to buy a new one.  The one I bought in 2004 lasted until 2010 when I had to throw it out because it had gotten threadbare and was full of holes.  I liked it so well I wore it a lot.   After leaving Howard’s Pub we made our way to the Hatteras Ferry to Hatteras and the outer banks.  This ferry trip took 40 minutes but the drive back took about three hours.

There were plenty of Sea Gulls following us.
We made it back home around 6:00 p.m.   Fred was very glad to see us and to get his dinner.  On my last walk in the park tonight I tried to get more sunset pictures but they didn’t turn out too well.

Tomorrow will be travel day for us.  We are headed to Virginia.
Laugh everyday. Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. Love Howard's ! In 2007,our daughter and SIL got married on the beach at Hatteras and we spent that week with them and about 40 family and friends down there. Such a beautiful place and far less commercial than the Maryland beaches !

  2. I'll have to try Howard's Pub in August. So what does the T-shirt look like?
