Custer State Park and Bumpin Buffalo.

Woke up yesterday to 48 degrees and lots of wind.   As the day progressed the wind died down and it warmed up to 62 degrees.  Perfect weather for a ride through Custer State Park.  It has been a few years since we have been in this area.  The last time we were here there were buffalo close to the road and everywhere you looked.  We drove for quite a while before we saw some way off in the distance.  Finally we came across one closer to the road and, of course, people out of their cars trying to get a close up picture. That is just plain crazy.

The buffalo is on the left side of this picture.  See those people on the right.  I guess they don't think he could run them over in a matter of seconds.

I always look forward to the burros.  I know...they aren't what many people call "wildlife" but I like looking at them.  I think they are cute.

Cute little guy.

This poor guy had cuckleburs all over him.

As we continued on we saw the occasional deer or two.

That concluded our wildlife viewing for the day.   The scenery on the rest of the drive was beautiful.

After our long drive it was time to think about "what's for dinner".  We decided to stop at the Bumpin Buffalo in Hill City.   My sister and her husband ate there on vacation a few years back and raved about the food.

John got an entree called the Belt Buster which consisted of a huge chicken fried steak, salad, baked potato and corn.  I had the breaded jumbo shrimp with baked potato, corn and chicken and wild rice soup.  I would really like that soup recipe.   The food and service were both awesome.   We were stuffed so no dessert for us.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.
