Today our son Robert is celebrating his 33rd birthday. Happy birthday Robert, love you son.
Saturday Leland and Cathy took us to a place called Pictograph Cave State Park in Billings. This is a 23 acre area of caves located five miles south of billings. Prehistoric hunters camped in these caves and left behind artifacts and 100s of rock paintings or pictographs. It is an amazing place.
Sunday morning we were up early and on the road to Bear Tooth Highway to see the sights. It was a beautiful drive with lots of photo ops. Our first stop was Rock Creek Vista Point. The first thing you notice when you get out of the vehicle are the chipmunks. They are just waiting for someone to feed them.
After leaving the overlook we continued on down the highway. In some places the air was smoky from the fires in Yellowstone. We were still able to get some amazing photos.
I thought this was a cool looking mountain. We came back on Hwy 296 and picked up Hwy 120 just North of Cody back to Billings.
All that riding got us to thinking about dinner. We decided on a Chinese restaurant in Billings. The sun was just beginnig to set when we got back to Leland and Cathy's so I tried to get a picture of that.
We had a wonderful time with Leland and Cathy and we thank them so much for their hospitality. This morning Cathy prepared us a delicious breakfast before we hit the road. Good food, good times and great friends, it just doesn't get any better than that. We hope to see them again real soon.
Our trip today was unevenful and we made it to Devil's Tower, WY and are staying at the Belle Fourche campground. The scenery is beautiful.
Tomorrow is a travel day for us. Our destination is Rapid City, SD.
Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.

ReplyDeleteNo snow, it is in the 90's here.
DeleteI so envy you that trip to Montana, Yellowstone, Devil's Tower. We did it many moons ago, before we had a camper..I long to go back, but that won't happen unless Dennis quits farming!
