Having fun with friends in Kentucky.

We left Indian Springs State Park early Sunday morning.  Our trip was uneventul and we arrived around 3:00 p.m.  Since our arrival we have enjoyed lots of good food and lots of laughs with our friends.

Yesterday was a very rainy day.  We were lucky and did not have tornadoes in this area.  Our thoughts and prayers are with those who where in Mississippi, Arkansas and other areas damaged by tornadoes over the past two days.

Last day at Indian Springs State Park.

Today was our last full day at Indian Springs State Park.  John packed up all our outside stuff earlier today.  Our plan is to check the bath houses one last time in the morning before heading out to Kentucky to visit friends.

We have enjoyed our time here and will miss the staff and friends very much.

Saying "see ya later" to Kim.

Today was a very busy day at the park.  By the end of the day there were no vacancies.  There are still some schools having spring breaks here in Georgia which makes up a large portion of campers arriving for the weekend.   We usually have a few people dropping in at night hunting a spot for the night.  Last night we had to turn some away.

We were scheduled to leave here on Monday but John noticed the weather will be nasty then so we will be pulling out Sunday.   That meant today was our last day to visit with Kim at the office.  We stopped in for our "see ya later" visit and photo.

This is the view from Kim's desk.   I wanted to get a better picture of the little blue bird but he flew off.

It is always hard to leave here as it is one of our favorite places to work and visit.  We will miss the staff and friends and hope to see them again real soon. Our replacement, Darnell, will be here on May 2nd.  Good luck to you Darnell.   We know you will do a great job for the park.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

A visit with Don and Gloria.

We had a special treat today.... friends Don and Gloria came by for a visit.  The last time we saw them was two years ago when we were all camp host at Indian Springs.  After visiting for a while we decided to go into town for some lunch at La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant.  This is the place that has a $3.99 lunch, which includes a drink.  Don't know how they do it at that price but we sure enjoy it.   We have eaten there several times since arriving here in March.  The food and service have always been great.

Don and Gloria with Fred.   Of course Fred wanted some attention. LOL

We enjoyed our visit with Don and Gloria and hope to see them again soon.  Thanks for lunch Don and Gloria.

Trip to Greenville, SC and a visit with Dick & Skeeter.

Yesterday John and I met Darnell, who will be replacing us as camp host at Indian Springs State Park.     John showed him around the park and what we do daily.  He will begin on May 2nd.  So glad we got to meet him.  We are sure he will do a wonderful job for the park.

Up very early this morning and on the road to Greenville, SC for my bi-annual doctor appointment for the enchomdroma I have in my right humerus.  It is a benign bone tumor that I was diagnosed with in 2008.   My doctor, formerly from MS, moved to Greenville, SC in 2010.  The Medical Center did not replace him and the nearest doctor of his type was located in Arkansas.  Since we travel, I decided to keep my original doctor.  We schedule or travels every two years so that I can keep my appointment.  I am happy to say there was no change in the tumor.  Yeah!!!

After leaving the doctor's office we drove to Royston, GA to visit our friend Dick and his dog Skeeter.  Dick used be the Maintenance Camp Host at Indian Springs State Park but is now volunteering at Victoria Bryant State Park.  We drove into town and had lunch at a place called Bob's Small Town Grille.  John found it online and all the reviews sounded great so you know we had to try it.  The food was great.

After lunch we went back to Dick's place to visit for a while before heading back to Indian Springs State Park.

Visit with Renee

After finishing our morning cores in the park we drove to Marietta to visit with our niece Renee and have lunch at Gabriel's; the restaurant she works for.  We arrived at 11:30 and the lunch crowd started to roll in.   The food was very good.  If you are in the area drop in and try it out.

Doctor satisfied with John's hand.

We left Tuesday morning and traveled to Mississippi.  Our trip was uneventful and we made it to Bob and Marcy's around 2:30 p.m.

Of course we played card games.  I got beat on almost every game.  I did have a great hand on one of my golf games.
This was my first hand during the first round of golf.  I went on to get beat.

Thursday morning John had is appointment with the surgeon to check his hand.  The doctor was satisfied with how his hand is healing and he no longer has to wear the splint.  He is a happy camper.
John's hand looks almost back to normal with the exception of a small scar where the incision was.

Later Thursday night Robert, Kelsey and the grandbabies came by for a visit.   They are growing so fast.  So glad we got to see them before we left.

Emi's Birthday and a visit with Harold and family.

Tuesday we left Indian Springs State Park and traveled to Warner Robbins to celebrate Emi's birthday and spend the night.  Tricia prepared delicious homemade stromboli for dinner and an awesome birthday cake for Emi's special day. Everything was delicious.  Thanks Tricia for a wonderful dinner.  We enjoyed being there to celebrate with all of you.

Fred and Jack played with the ball until they punched hole in it.

Wednesday we left cousin Tricia's and traveled on to John's brother Harold's house.  It has been almost two years since we visited them.  Of course we played 10 Penny and had lots of laughs.  It was so good to see them all again.  Thanks Harold and Sandie for the hospitality.  I finally remembered to take a few pictures.

John and I rode with Sandie on a few errands.  We rode through the base and I was able to get pictures of the USS New York, a 5th San Antonio-Class Amphibious Transport Dock.  It is notable for using a symbolic amount of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center after it was destroyed in the September 11 attacks.

Yesterday morning we had breakfast at Harold and Sandie's favorite place, The Home Plate.  We were joined by friends Bill and Loretta who are also fulltimers.

The Home Plate is very uniqiue......it even has it's own set of rules. LOL  The owner/cook is very entertaining.

After breakfast it was time for us to make our way back to GA.  The trip was uneventful and we made it back to Indian Springs State Park by 2:30 p.m.   We were busy the rest of the day with park chores.
