Happy Birthday Harold and Renee

Today is John's brother Harold and his niece Renee's birthday, Happy Birthday to the both of you, look forward to seeing them this week for Lester's high school graduation. Woke up to the sound of rain falling. Oh no! The good news is …..it went away by mid morning and stayed away. Yeah!! Shannon came over and joined us for breakfast and we enjoyed visiting with her. When she left Fred and I walked out with her as Fred needed a potty break. On my way back to the RV we passed a man walking his large pit bull. The dog lunged at us and he had a difficult time getting it back under control. It didn’t help matters that the guy had the dog on a very long leash and it was right at us before we knew it. Fred was trying to get away so hard his harness got twisted. I have never encountered dogs lunging at us in a park so this was a first. Needless to say, Fred was petrified. It doesn’t take much to scare Fred so this was not good. I finally made it back inside the RV and was trying to get Fred’s harness fixed when he lunged at me. This has happened in the past when he gets scared. He doesn’t really hurt anything because he doesn’t have any front teeth. I should have waited longer try and fix the harness I guess. It takes a little while for Fred to calm down. John finally got the harness fixed and Fred is now back to his old calm self.

This afternoon John and I drove over and picked up Shannon and then on to pick Lester and Savannah up from school. Since Lester is a senior today was his last day. Savannah has a couple or so more days left.

Tonight we enjoyed spaghetti, salad and garlic bread for diner then a round of 10 Penny. Believe it or not I actually won this round. LOL

Not a very good picture but I just had to show off my low score of 80 points. I don’t win very often.

Lester his staying the night with us. We are really enjoying his company tonight. Sock Monkey tried to steal Lester’s cup of tea. Shame on old Sock Monkey. LOL

Fun with Shannon, Les & Savannah.

This morning Shannon, Les and Savannah came over right as John was finishing up rebuilding the air pressure regulator. He is so handy. We all gathered round the table for a round of 10 Penny. Shannon emerged as the winner.

While we were playing cards John looked out the window and noticed a motor home going by and said, “Hey that looks like Jim and Linda Smith’s rig". Talk about a small world. Last week when we me Jim and Dee and Mike and Terry for lunch in Gordonsville they were going to visit with Jim and Linda that very afternoon. John remembered their motor home from blog pictures. After Jim and Linda got set up we walked over and had a nice visit with them. Sure is nice to meet up with fellow RVers. They are listed on our blog roll under Myrddin's Travels.

Tonight John grilled corn on the cob and burgers for dinner. They sure were good. Afterwards we settled in to watch Law Abiding Citizen. It is good suspenseful movie but quite graphic.

Dinner with Shannon, Lester and Savannah.

Up at 8:00 and out of Gordonsville, VA by 9:15. We were making good time until we got caught up in a traffic jam. The interstate was down to one lane due to road construction then a wreck occurred. We sat there for 45 solid minutes. Not fun! Finally made it to Milton, WV around 4:30. As we pulled into the park we were greeted by our niece Shannon, her son Lester and daughter Savannah. It was so good to see them again.

After visiting for a while we all decided it was time to find some dinner. Our choice was O’Charley’s. John and Lester ordered burgers, Shannon and Savannah had steak and I opted for the chicken strips. The food was delicious and as usual there was lots of laughter.

Freightliner gets washed.

Another sunny and warm day today.  So glad the rain decided to stay away.   John washed the Freightliner and put away our outside stuff.  Tomorrow we will be traveling on to Milton, WV to attend our nephew, Lester’s graduation.  Congratulations Lester we are so proud of you.

As usual this afternoon the RVs started rolling in.  Fred was checking out the new neighbors.   I guess dogs are just as noisy as people are. LOL

Lunch with fellow RVers.

Woke up to another day of warm temperatures and sunshine. Yeah!! Hopefully the rain will stay away for a little while longer. Fred was happy the ground was dry.

This afternoon we had a special treat. Fellow RVers Jim, Dee, Mike and Terri came by and visited with us. After visiting for a little while we all loaded up and drove over to The BBQ Exchange for lunch. The food was good. John and Jim even tried a new dessert…..a bacon brownie. I think they both agreed that brownies are better without the bacon. LOL

John and I had met Jim and Dee at the first RV Dreams Rally in Branson and met up with them again in March 2009. It was so good to see them again. This was our first time to meet Mike and Terri and we enjoyed visiting with them very much.

We look forward to meeting up with them again down the road.

No rain today!

Wow…..a whole day without rain. John took advantage of the nice weather to wash the RV.

John hard at work.

Today was one of those catch-up days. Catch-up on laundry and all that other good stuff. LOL I finally got around to re-arranging stuff in the closet. I job which I really hate. By the time I finished with that it was time to cook some dinner. Tonight we had cheese and garlic tortellini, steamed brussel sprouts and salmon patties with a parmesan lemon white sauce.

Tomorrow Dee, Jim, Mike and Terri are driving over from Ashland, VA for a visit. We look forward to seeing Dee and Jim again and meeting Mike and Terri.

Enough with the rain already!

Woke up at 6:45 to the sound of thunder and heavy rain and rolled back over and went back to sleep.  That lasted until 9:00 when Fred decided it was time for him to eat. Usually right after Fred has his “dinner” he wants to go out for a potty break.  Well, he took one look at the rain through the door and turned around and went back to bed with John. LOL  Fred doesn’t like getting wet.

It rained on and off all day long.  blah blah blah   Late this afternoon the rain stopped for a while and we took advantage of that time to make a grocery run.  We went to Food Lion and stocked up on meat.  They were having a buy one get one free sale.  No room in the freezer now. LOL

On our way to the grocery store I got a couple of pictures of the back side of the park.

To the movies.

The weather was warm and sunny for most of the day…... rain moved in later tonight. After dinner John and I drove over to Charlottesville, VA to see the movie Something Borrowed. I probably enjoyed it more than John because it was mostly what people would call a chick flick. It was a cute movie but a bit predicable. The one I am waiting for is The Hangover II. We thought the first one was hilarious and want to see the second one.

Sore throat gone!

Woke up this morning to kids screaming and running through the park.  Of course it was after 9:30 when I got up with Fred.  John didn’t roll out of bed until 10:30. But we stayed up past 1:00 a.m. this morning.  Around 3:00 a.m. heavy rain and thunder moved in so it was good to see the sunshine out.  The sunshine didn’t last long though. By late afternoon thunder, lightening and heavy rain was back.  Luckily we got our walk in and took a few pictures.

This is where the garbage cans are.  There are several of these throughout the park.  No ugly dumpsters anywhere. They have garbage runs several times a day.

Rain moved in and stayed a while.

The rain moved in this morning and stayed on and off all day long.   Sure does make for a blah day.  I woke up with my throat hurting worse than yesterday.  It felt like a fire bomb exploded in it. Uck!  After drinking several cups of hot tea with honey and lemon I decided to make some homemade chicken soup.  I have always heard it was good for whatever ails you. LOL  After eating a large bowl of it a little while later my throat was feeling much better.  Tonight it is just a little scratchy.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that John and I are both finished with our throat crud.

Hoping for a sunshiny day tomorrow.
