Rest in peace sweet Freddie. We will miss you terribly.
We adopted Fred when he was two years old from a local animal clinic. He had been badly abused and was on the run when the police found him after being hit by a car. Because of his past he didn't trust anyone which made him standoffish toward people therefore, no one wanted to adopt him. He had been at the clinic about three months recuperating. I found out about Fred after our Jack Russell Terrier Oscar passed away. We went to the clinic to visit Fred and the vet explained why he acted so strange around people so we weren't surprised. What was surprising is that he took to John right away and jumped into his lap. The vet was very surprised. Well, as they say, the rest was history. He has been with us for almost nine years and experienced new things and made many friends along the way. The RVing lifestyle seem to agree with him. The more he met people on the road the better he became. Several of you will remember him from our first days on the road and how far he progressed with meeting people. I am happy to say he led a very spoiled life with us so we know he was happy. It was so very hard to say a last goodbye to him. We loved him so much.
Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.
So sorry to hear about Fred. He was a good ol' boy.
ReplyDeleteFred was just the best!!! It is so hard to watch them decline or be in pain..We are so glad to have met dear Fred..and now he has crossed that rainbow bridge, free of pain, running and jumping..I hope he makes friends with our Black Lab, Gypsy..she's been there since the mid 80's..Hugs...
ReplyDeleteOne can develop a very close relationship with their pets, so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a tough week for RVing dogs. I lost my dog, Millie, last Saturday to cancer too. My heart goes out to you in these difficult days, but hopefully, you are finding some solace, too, knowing Fred is now free of his pain and suffering.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry for your loss. It sure takes a chunk out of one's heart to loose a dear pet. Best wishes for healing your grief.

I so well understand your feelings at losing Fred. Pets for many of us are true treasured friends & their loss is so sadly missed. That was so nice of you to be a true friend to Fred at a point in his young life when so much had already gone wrong for him. So happy you were able to give him a warm loving home. There isn't much in my life that brings tears to my eyes anymore but your story & Fred's passing just did....................
ReplyDeleteLosing a faithful pet can be almost as traumatic as losing a family member. Know you're going to miss him.
