New Chairs!!!!!!!

Up around 8:30 a.m. Wow, we were early birds today. LOL

John and I met the TSC gang at McB’s Restaurant and Bar for lunch. Back when I worked for TSC we would eat there atleast once a week. Each day they serve lunch specials but they are known for their wine burgers. The lunch special for today was fried chicken or pork steak with sides of homemade macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, fried okra, cornbread and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. This is a unique place where you can eat lunch and get insulted for fun. Our favorite waitress has worked here for years and she doesn’t mind telling people exactly what is on her mind. She is very entertaining and takes good care of her customers. We always like to sit in her area because we know we will be laughing.

Several of us ordered the lunch special, a few got wine burgers and one of us chose the fried shrimp dinner. Sam surprised John and I and bought our lunch. Thanks Sam.

Ok, now lunch is over and the TSC has to go back to work so we said our goodbyes and went over to Office Depot for some business cards. After purchasing the business cards we ventured over to "The Back Store”. John was in search of a roll pillow for lumbar support to use while sitting in his recliner. As we entered the store there were all these comfortable looking chairs just waiting to be tried out. Within minutes I fell in love with a chair that was built for short people. Hey my feet actually reached the ground. Anyone who knows me knows that this a rare occurrence. LOL While I was sitting in this chair enjoying this “rare occurrence” I looked over and what did I see……John sitting in a tall people chair. To make a long story short we ordered two recliners. Mine will be here in seven to ten days and John’s in 14 weeks. We will stay in Mississippi until my chair is here next week then hit the road. John’s chair should be here when we return to Mississippi in November.

The chairs will have natural colored wood bases with cream colored leather. Oh, by the way, John found the pillow he was looking for.

After stimulating the economy, we returned to the camper and John placed our old recliners on Craig’s List to sell. In less than an hour John received a call from an interested party.

Dad was feeling better tonight and wanted to play 10 Penny so John and I drove over after dinner. We were almost finished with the first game when John received a call from the person interested in the recliners. He left to meet them at the camper then returned to play more 10 Penny. Yeah!!!!! The old recliners are sold and will be picked up Tuesday.

Chiropractor visit.

Wow!  We did not get up until 9:55 today…..Fred too.  What is up with that? LOL   I guess we are staying up too late at night.

Dad is continuing to get stronger and feeling better a little each day.  Thanks for all the get well wishes. 

To Kathy whose father had back surgery in Nashville today, we wish him a speedy recovery. 

John and I went to the chiropractor today along with my sister.  We just wanted to get another adjustment in before the hit the road.  Today was Annie’s first time to see the chiropractor.  She has neck and back pain and has tried everything and decided to try the chiropractor since we have had such good results.  She was a little apprehensive at first because she didn’t know what to expect.  Hopefully she will benefit from it as much as we do.

Almost every afternoon since we have been back in Mississippi it has rained.  The good thing about the rain today is that the temperature dropped to 76 degrees.  A welcome change.

Right before sunset I took Fred out and walked around the park.  It was still thundering but the rain had stopped.  I tried to get a picture of the reservoir at dusk.  This picture turned out lighter than it looked.

Tomorrow we plan to have lunch with the TSC gang at McB’s.  McB’s is a local bar and grill that has a lunch special everyday and entertaining wait staff.  It is always good for a lot of laughs.

Dinner at Annie and Terry’s.

Got up late this morning. Don’t we sound lazy? LOL The rest of the morning included laundry and other household chores. It is a dirty job but you know…..somebody has to do it.

Our plan today included dinner at Annie and Terry’s so we made a run to Kroger for some groceries. Dad is feeling better with the exception of some digestion problems but planned on joining us for dinner.

I made a batch of macaroni salad and marinated some chicken breasts and we were off to Annie and Terry’s…..even Fred.

After dinner it was time for a round of 10 Penny.

After playing 10 Penny Annie, Terry, John and I decided to hang out in the pool. It is still so hot here even after dark. The water felt nice.

Dad getting stronger.

Dad feeling stronger today. He accompanied Mom on a couple of errands to get out of the house. I think he is building his strength up to beat us in 10 Penny. LOL

Annie came over and picked John and I up for lunch. We decided on Zaxby’s. This is one of our favorite places to go for salad. Annie and I got the grilled house salad but John tried something new. The Zensation Salad. He said it was not as good as the grilled house salad. After lunch Annie and I dropped John back off a the camper. We were going what we call “store hopping” and he was not interested in that. Store hopping is going to our favorite stores and just looking at stuff and bumming around. Sometimes we buy something but a lot of times we just look at stuff.

While Annie and I were “store hopping” John drove over to Best Buy and did a little shopping. He purchased a 19” Dynex LCD/DVD television for the bedroom. We got rid of the old one before we hit the road. It was one of those old heavy RCA tvs.

Oh by the way, Nellie, we had our weigh in day today. John is down 1.8 pounds and I was up .7 pounds. I think something is wrong here. LOL We will continue to watch our food intake and see what happens.

Dad feeling some better.

Up at 8:30.  Can’t believe Fred slept that late.  Mid morning we went to Mom and Dad’s (Bob and Marcy’s).  Dad is feeling much better today.  He still gets tired easily and his appetite still  has not increased much.  He is very glad to be home.

Sockey came along for the visit.

While we were there John fixed the lock on the utility room door and put up Dad’s flag.

After finishing at Dad’s we went back to the RV.  John wanted to finish his latest project in the basement….mounting an air hose reel.   I guess you could call John Mr. Fix it.

My sister, Annie met John and I at Bob and Marcy’s for dinner.  We had turkey meatloaf, fresh corn, creamed spinach and new potatoes.  For dessert Marcy made a banana pudding.  You know we do like to talk about the food. LOL

With dinner and dessert consumed and dishes washed it was time for a round of 10 Penny.  Dad decided to sit this one out.  He was feeling a bit washed out. Tonight was Mom’s lucky night.  She won.  You know we will have to have a rematch. Hopefully Dad will feel up to playing the next time.

By the time we finished 10 Penny it was getting pretty late so we loaded up to head home.  My sister realized she had a passenger in her car.

I guess Sockey was mad because he didn’t get any banana pudding and decided to go home with someone else. LOL

Dad released from hospital.

John and I met Annie for lunch at Grand China Buffet.  This is one of the places we ate at frequently when we were working.  After lunch John left to take care of some legal matters and run a few errands.  Annie and I went on to the hospital to bring Mom some lunch and to stay with Dad while she went home for a while.  Mom was preparing to leave when the doctor came in with test results.  The cultures that were grown from the fluids taken when the spinal tap was done showed no abnormalities.  It was determined that Dad suffered from a severe sinus infection and dehydration.   When the doctor told him he could go home he immediately perked up and smiled.  He is feeling much better today.  Our thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. 

Tonight John, Annie and I went to Mugshots Grill and Bar for burgers.  We all agreed that these are the best burgers in this area.   If you ever visit Flowood, Mississippi stop in and try one.   They are yummy.  The only problem the I have with them is the size.  Annie and I always have to split one.

After dinner we ended up at Kohl’s.  Of course we only purchased  sale items. LOL  Poor John …..he endured our short shopping spree and didn’t even complain.

Dad still in hospital but improving.

Dad is still in the hospital.  He is doing some better today.  The test results have not revealed anything.  The doctors are still unsure as to what caused his illness.  They still have him on strong antibiotic drips and drips to hydrate him.  His appetite is still not good and the nausea still comes and goes. The doctor has ordered physical therapy since he has not be able to get up and walk for a while.  This is unusual for him in that he usually walks two to three miles a day.  We are hopeful that the doctors will have answers soon. Thank you all for your prayers they are greatly appreciated.  

John and I spent the day in the road going to and from appointments and the hospital.  We did get out and have dinner in Jackson at Fenian’s Pub.  Fenian’s is a unique place with good food and entertainment.  It has been a long time since we have eaten here.  We both enjoyed the Old Fashioned Shepherd’s Pie.

Dad in hospital.

Received a call early this morning from my sister saying the doctor was putting my Dad in the hospital. He has been sick for almost two weeks with what was diagnosed as a bad sinus infection. Yesterday he went in for an MRI. It did not show any abnormalities. This morning, while in the emergency room, the doctor performed a spinal tap to see if he had encephalitis. One doctor said yes and the other said no. So we are back at square one……we don’t know what he has. He has been placed on a drip to hydrate him and an antibiotic drip. There are some additional test results that should ready tomorrow morning. The West Nile test came back negative. When I left the hospital tonight he was looking a little better and had eaten some dinner. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for my Dad. We really appreciate it.

Dinner with Nathan and Connie.

Up early today and over to the therapeutic massage appointment.  Aahhhh my neck feels better already.  I think John went to sleep while he was in there. His back is feeling much better. 

Dad is still having the bad headaches and loss of appetite.  The doctor sent him for an MRI this afternoon.  He has an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow morning.  We hope they will have some answers soon.  

This afternoon John worked on his return air project. He said the pictures are still to come.

Tonight John and I went to Nathan “Dawg” and Connie’s for dinner.  Nathan prepared a masterpiece.  Everything was so tasty.  He prepared Italian green beans, and a very tasty potato dish (John called it Potatoes a la “Dawg”) along with grilled steaks and sausage. He also served some jalapeno cheese rolls.  Thank you Dawg and Connie for a wonderful dinner.

Of course, after dinner we had to sit down to a game of 10 Penny.  Just got to play 10 Penny. LOL  During the game there was a disturbance coming from the living room.  It was Molly the Jack Russell.  She had battle with spider man and spider man lost.

Poor spider man….he lost his stuffing. He was just no match for Molly. LOL

Unfortunately we forgot to bring Sockey the Sock Monkey to dinner with us.  We left him hanging out at the RV with Fred.

Breakfast at Fire House, Dinner at Annie’s.

Up early and over to Central Fire Station for breakfast. The guys from C-Shift cooked an outstanding breakfast of biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy, deer sausage and bacon. Everything was so delicious. Thanks C-Shift for inviting us to eat with you guys. We still need to play a game of 10 Penny before we leave again. LOL

Allan, the new Assistant Chief of C-Shift

Today was also a special day for Assistant Chief Carter Hill. He retired today after 31 years of service. We wish him all the best.

After leaving Central Fire Station John and I drove over to Station 2 and Station 4 to visit with the fire fighters he hasn’t seen since we have been back.

This afternoon John and I went to my sister’s house to grill burgers and visit. A couple days ago my brother-in-law noticed a stray dog hanging around their property. They already have two dogs and it looks like this one wants to stay also. Anyone who knows my sister and her husband knows that this dog has probably landed in heaven.

This is the stray dog. She looks a lot our dog Fred, only larger. John calls her Fredrica.

This is Gordon. He was a stray that was dumped on their property. He has been with them more than 10 years. Lucky dog. He is very spoiled.

Dad wanted to try and get out a little today so he and Mom made it over for burgers. He is feeling a little better today. Hopefully his test results will be in Monday or Tuesday of next week. Thanks to everyone for their get well wishes for my Dad.

My sister and I like to joke around. My brother-in-law fell asleep in his chair and we thought it would be funny to take a picture of him with sock monkey on his head. We would have gotten away with it if we could just stop laughing.
