Closed on the house today.

Busy day again today.  John and I both had doctor appointments this morning.  After that we finished clearing out the last few items in the house.

We stopped to eat lunch at the local Italian restaurant Roma’s.  John ordered the Roma burger, just like last time and guess what….they did not have it this time either.  John was not happy since he had his taste buds set for a burger.  We both ordered lunch specials, John the fish and me the shrimp.  The food was very tasty.  Then it was on to the house closing.

The lady that bought our house will be moving in with her daughter who is attending one of the area colleges.  She was very excited to be buying the house.  After the closing we drove back over to the house so John could show her how the alarm system and the high tech thermostat worked.  She was very grateful for his assistance.

John had to go in to work at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon so I know he will be tired tonight after such a long day.  My sister Annie and I planned on going to dinner and a movie tonight but ended up having dinner and shopping instead.  We did not see anything playing that we wanted to see so we decided to skip it.

Tonight is my first night at the campground by myself….well….just me and Fred since John is at the FD.  It is very quiet here.

Moved to the campground today.

Busy busy day today.  Not much left in the house.  Tomorrow morning John and I both have doctor appointments then we will haul off the few things left in the house. Finally!!!!!  We close on the house tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

John took the RV to the campground and set it up this afternoon while I finished laundry at the house.  Later we drove over to Bob and Marcy’s to drop of some stuff then back to the house.  But the day was not over yet.  I drove over to Kay’s then over to Annie’s to drop of some things while John waited at the house for Robert to come by to pick up a few things. While Robert was there John told him the person who was supposed to pick up the coffee table and end tables never showed.  Robert said he needed them so he and John packed up the truck and headed to his house to unload it.  By the time I met John back at the house it was close to 8:00 p.m. so we headed off to the campground.  After eating a supper of turkey sandwiches and chips John decided to go to bed early.  I am still a little keyed up so here I sit on the computer.

Happy Birthday Leslie

Happy Birthday to our RV buddy Leslie. Hope you have a great birthday.

John got home this morning and found me still asleep. That almost never happens. Even Fred was still asleep. I was so tired from yesterday that I guess it all caught up with me.

Today started out with John renting, then loading a dump trailer and taking all the junk to the dump. When he returned we both loaded the trailer with items to be taken to Good Will.

While John was gone returning the trailer I started cleaning out the refrigerator. This is one job I have always hated. Don’t know why but I do. LOL

There are just a few items left for the bidders to pickup. It should all be gone tomorrow. The only things left in the house are items that will be loaded in the camper.

We were both tired by this afternoon and decided to take a nap. Unfortunately, my phone and John’s kept ringing. :( After our “nap” we went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. The steaks were tasty and the service was good. Now we are sitting in the camper behind the house……just chilling.

Happy Anniversary Jim and Dee

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :)  It was another busy day on the home front. LOL    I emptied out the rest of the clothes.  We now have very large stacks of clothes and other items ready to go to Good Will.

John will be renting a trailer tomorrow to haul things to the dump and then to take the other things to Good Will.  All the furniture purchased by bidders should be picked up tomorrow so by this time tomorrow night the house should be just about empty.

These last few days have been very very tiring.  I wonder now why in the world I held on to so much of the material stuff especially when it has been years since it was looked at or thought about. LOL

Happy Anniversary to Jim and Dee.  Hope you two had a great day.

Out The Door

Up this morning a little before 8 and had breakfast, shortly after breakfast people started showing up and calling for the sale that ended today at noon. Annie and Terry came over just before noon. Bridget and Annie drove over to Chick-fil-a to pick up lunch. At noon I started calling the people to let them know what they had won with their bid. After all the calls were made Terry and I loaded stuff for Robert into Terry's truck. Annie, Bridget and Terry went to Robert's to unload. I stayed back waiting for people to pick up the stuff they had purchased. Bob and Marcy came over later in the afternoon. The people picking up the sleeper sofa and other items were there loading up. Shortly after they left the people that bought the bedroom set showed up. They got all but 2 pieces, when they left the four of us headed to Picadilly for supper. On our way home we called the guy to let him know we would be back around 7:45, they showed up around 8 and loaded the remaining stuff. The furniture is just about all out the door. There are a few remaining furniture pieces that will be picked up Sunday and Monday. So, tonight is our first official full time RVing night in the home on wheels.

Just to let you know I added a link under "favorite links" for RV Service Reviews, I picked it up off of Nick Russell's website. It is like RV Park Reviews but for RV service locations nationwide.

Satellite TV, New Awnings & Pork Chops.

John off today. :)  This was a busy day.  John made two trips to the hardware store for parts he needed to fix things in the camper.  Later in the morning a lady came by to look at the items for sale and to place a bid. The bidding will end at noon tomorrow.

Around 11:30 the Dish Network man showed up to install satellite system in the camper.  Woohooo…..we will have tv.  :O

After lunch I made a Wal-mart run for items we need in the camper.  Shortly after I returned home the RV awning man arrived to replace the three slide awnings, reseal the roof seams and replace the LP lines.  The camper is almost ready to go. :)

Of course by now we were getting hungry so it was time to start dinner.  I had some boneless pork chops so I tried the Pineapple Honey Chicken recipe on them.  It was just as tasty using the pork chops as it was with the chicken.  John was happy. :)

A while later John and I went over to Bob and Marcy’s to finish working on the invitations for Annie’s 50th birthday party.  Now we are both tired so we will be headed off to bed shortly.  Tomorrow will be another busy day with people pickup furniture and getting things cleared out of the house.

Lunch at “The Smoke Shack”

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :( Woke up to a rainy day but by 10:00 a.m. the sun was shining again.

I met John, Kay, Amy and Kris for lunch at McB’s, or as we call it, The Smoke Shack, for lunch to celebrate Amy’s 50th birthday. McB’s used to allow smoking before the no smoking ordinance was passed. The place always smelled of smoke so we have always called it The Smoke Shack. Everyone except Kay ordered wine burgers, which is what McB’s is known for. They were delicious as usual.

After lunch I picked up Marcy and we went shopping for supplies for Annie’s 50th birthday party. We had to go to several places to find what we needed and before we knew it dinner time had arrived. I hurried home to reheat the leftover lasagna to take to the fire station. John is very easy to please and he does not mind the leftovers. :)

Later I went back to Bob and Marcy’s to work on Annie’s party decorations.

Lasagna, Salad and Garlic Bread

John off today. :)  The warm temperatures decided to hang around again today staying in the low to mid 70’s.

The termite inspection was done today.  John changed the rear end gear oil and fuel filter in the ram today.  I finally got around to cleaning the refrigerator in the camper.

Before we knew it dinner time was upon us so I thawed out a container of my spaghetti and meat sauce and made a small pan of lasagna, salad and garlic bread.  John sure was happy.  Isn’t it funny how our lives revolve around food. LOL

Later on our daughter-in-law, Kelsey, came by and John helped her load up a few things from inside the house.

Remember to laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

Satellite TV

John off today. :) The temperatures rose into the 70’s today. Now it feels like spring. John had his annual physical this morning and the doctor told him he was road ready for a year.

Since the weather was so nice John washed the camper. I continued to packed and arrange things inside the camper.

Later this afternoon John called Direct TV to cancel our service since they do not have what we will need on the road. John called Jim and Dee this afternoon inquiring about their satellite dish network. He was very helpful. Thanks Jim.

The Bounty Hunter

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :)  We will be getting rid of all the furniture this week.

This afternoon I picked up Marcy and we went shopping for party supplies for Annie’s 50th birthday party.  The invitations will be mailed out this week then we will be finalizing the menu.

Annie and I went to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant then to see the movie The Bounty Hunter.  We like Gerard Butler so we enjoyed the movie.  It has some action scenes but it mostly a chick flick.

The Pizza Shack

John off today. :)  He received more calls on the furniture but no one came by.  The weather was cold in the mid 30’s with snow flurries here and there.  Tomorrow’s forecast will bring temperatures in the low 50’s.  Where did spring go?

Dinner time arrived and neither of us wanted to cook.  John was craving pizza so we drove to Jackson and ate at a place called The Pizza Shack.  This was the best pizza we have had in while.  Some of the guys John works with at Renaissance had eaten there and gave it a thumbs up so we knew it would probably be good.

John will be at the fire station tomorrow and I will continue to pack and organize the camper.  We will probably move it by the end of the week.

Amy’s 50th Birthday Party

John off today and at home ready to sell off the furniture.  A few people came by to bid on the furniture and other miscellaneous household items.

After Bo, Kay, Amy and I arrived in New Orleans last night we parked and walked down to Cafe Du Monde to meet up with Amy’s daughter and for beignets.  New Orleans is just as I remembered it, noisy and dirty but with a certain strange charm.

While John was at home selling off the furniture I was in New Orleans attending my friend Amy’s 50th birthday party.  There were lots of people and lots of good Cajun food.  Around 4:30 p.m. Bo, Kay and I started back home as Bo has to report to work at 4:00 a.m. Sunday Morning. :(

New Orleans Bound

Today was the FD for me, Bridget was busy straightening up the house for the big sale tomorrow. She stayed busy with other errands as well, Fred to the vet for his road trip shots and toenail clipping and a general check up, off to her mom and dad's to finish with some of the birthday planning then around 5pm headed off to New Orleans with Kay, Amy and Bo for Amy's 50th birthday party tomorrow. They stopped at Middendoff's for supper and should be in New Orleans about now. The big sale starts at 9am and I hope everything is sold this weekend. Almost forgot, I have to pick Fred up before 1pm from the vet. About it for now.

Finalizing Travel Plans for New Orleans

John off today. :)   John and I met our friends Kay and Amy for lunch at Applebee’s.   Amy’s 50th birthday party will be in New Orleans this Saturday and we were finalizing our travel plans over lunch.  Kay, Bo (Kay’s husband), Amy and I will be leaving Friday afternoon for New Orleans.  John works at the fire station Friday and will be staying home Saturday to sell the furniture.  Hopefully the furniture will go soon.

I went over to Bob and Marcy’s to work on birthday invitations for my sister, Annie’s 50th birthday party which will be next month.

John and I are trying to use up all the groceries in the house so we threw together some odds and ends for dinner.  Afterwards we went over to Annie’s house to pick up a paper cutter and to drop off my Christmas dishes that she will be storing for me while we are on the road.

Flat Screen TV Mounted

The New 32" Sony replaces the heavy 27" Sony.

John off today. :) Several people came by today to look at the furniture and other items we have for sale. Marc Moore came over today and helped John mount the new 32" Sony Bravia LED flat screen tv in the camper as well as assist John with some of the repairs on the house that have to be completed before the closing. Started getting hungry a little after 1pm so the three of us loaded up in the car and headed to Mama Hamil's Restaurant, filled our bellies completely, then had dessert. Thanks Marc for a job well done.

While John and Marc were working on the house I continued to sort through stuff. Tomorrow I will clean out the pantry and see what I can get rid of in there. How much fun can a person have? LOL

Kitchen Cabinets Cleaned Out

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :( He is feeling much better today. Yeah!!! Last night he slept with ear plugs in his ears so he could not hear my snoring. He says I get loud sometimes. LOL He slept well but I didn’t. Someone’s dog started barking around 3:00 a.m. and would not stop….so I tossed and turned until the alarm went off at 6:00 for John to get up. I usually get up and fix him something to eat before he leaves but he was sweet enough to eat cereal so I could get some sleep. :)

Today, I finally got the kitchen cabinets cleaned out. I have several stacks that will be taken to Good Will. I chose a few of my favorite baking pans to put in the camper. Funny how the camper cabinets fill up quick. I did manage to rearrange some stuff in the camper so I could get the most for the space we have.

Fixed stewed chicken breasts, pasta and steamed vegetables for dinner and headed over to the fire station to visit with John.

Homemade Chicken Soup

John off today but still sick.  He went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with a sinus infection.  He got a shot and an antibiotic.  Tonight he seems much better.

Since John was still feeling puny I took his Aunt Martha to her doctor’s appointment today.  Afterwards we enjoyed a nice lunch and visited for a while before I took her back home.   The rest of the afternoon was filled with running errands so…….the kitchen cabinets did not get emptied.  Oh well,  I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow. LOL

I cooked a large pot of homemade chicken soup and some cornbread for dinner.  That always seems to make you feel better when your sick.

Bar Stools, Washer, Dryer & Refrigerator Sold

John off today. :)  As soon as he got home he started organizing the furniture to sell.  He still feels bad with the sinus crud. :(  Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow.

Annie came over before lunch and she and I went shopping for a little while.  While we were gone Robert came over to haul off a load of stuff from the house.  Then, the lady who is buying our house came over to look at some items we have for sale.  She bought our bar stools, washer, dryer and the refrigerator.  We still have living room furniture and the master bedroom suit to get rid of as well as some other odds and ends.   Tomorrow I plan on tackling the kitchen cabinets.  I have saved this room for last because I have a lot of stuff in those cabinets. LOL   Pretty soon it will all be gone.

Thanks to Marc Moore

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :( I think he was still tired from his trip because when the clock went off this morning he did not budge.

Today, I packed some thinks into the camper, threw away some more stuff and worked on the invitations for my sister’s 50th birthday party. The roll-out shelves that Marc Moore built are wonderful. I will be able to reach everything in the deep cabinet. Thanks Marc. I really really appreciated the shelves.

John’s niece Mary Beth came over this afternoon to get some stuff she wanted from the house. Slowly but surely the “stuff” is beginning to thin out.

John back from Florida

Woke up to the sound of heavy winds and rain this morning.  It only lasted for a little while and moved on out leaving us with a nice sunny day.

The bedroom suit that John sold last Saturday was picked up this morning and this afternoon the firefighter came by to  pick up the china cabinet.   It is starting to look a little vacant in here.  :)

John got back from Florida this afternoon and has started suffering from this sinus crud also. :(   Poor thing.  I know just how he feels.  He was tired from his journey so he went to bed around 8:00 p.m. to get some much needed rest.  He will be working at the FD tomorrow.

Our son Robert came by earlier this evening and picked up a couple loads of stuff we had for him.  He will pick up the rest tomorrow.  We hope to sell most of the furniture next week.

The realtor emailed John to let us know the closing will be at 2:00 p.m. on March 31st.  We now have sold sign in the front yard. Yeah!!!!!

Happy Birthday Mike.

John still in Florida today. :(  He will be flying home tomorrow. Yeah!!

We would like to wish our RV buddy Mike HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  We hope you were able to do something special today.

I still felt awful this morning so I went to see my allergy doctor.  He feels like some of the dust and junk I got into while cleaning out the garage has gotten my allergies all stirred up.  Now I have three prescriptions and am $150.00 poorer.  That really sucks. After spending that much money it better make me feel better. LOL

My sister Annie and I drove over to pick up Bob and Marcy tonight for dinner. Bob wanted a burger and fries so off we went to Back Yard Burger.

John in Florida

John flew out for Ocala, Florida today on his last official trip for the City of Ridgeland Fire Department.  Tomorrow he will go over the new fire truck to make sure everything is just as they ordered.

I think I have the sinus crud that has been going around.  My throat feels worse today. :(   This mess needs to go away I have too much stuff to do for it to slow me down!!!  Today I did get a little stuff done.  I went through all the pictures and sorted then into stacks of who will receive them.  Other than that the only thing I accomplished was laundry.

The weatherman just reported possible severe weather heading our way.  They are expecting golf sized hail and some straight line winds.  I hope it misses us.

Remember to laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

Appraisal looks good.

John off today. :) He finished cleaning out the attic over the garage…..just a few bags of stuff to throw away there.

It has rained here on and off all day long. I woke up with a scratchy sore throat. :( Since I was not operating at full speed today I did not get a lot done.

We received a call from the appraiser earlier tonight saying everything look ok. That is good news. Now we wait some more.

John flies out to Florida tomorrow to check out the new fire truck that was ordered last summer. This will be his last official trip and his last fire truck. I wonder if he will get sentimental. :0

Getting rid of more stuff!

John off today. :)  Busy day today.  John finished cleaning out one of the attics before it got too warm.  I think there were around 10 bags of junk to be thrown away.  Next it was time to clean out the storage room in the garage and a few other miscellaneous items that did not get hauled off Saturday.

Marc Moore came over after lunch today and began working on the roll out shelves for the camper.

I continued sorting through stuff and dividing it up into keep, throw away and give away stacks.

Stuff, stuff and more stuff.

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :( I know he was still tired from yesterday after getting up at 5:30 for the garage sale and then working 3 to 11 at the mall. He did not want to get up this morning.

After John left for work I started going thru some more stuff. I made good progress but still have a lot to do. I stopped after lunch to do my workout on the Wii and then realized I should have rested instead. The right side of my neck, shoulder and arm is having muscle spasms. John told me to rest today but I guess I was just hardheaded. I didn’t want to wait until the last minute to go thru all the stuff.

The guys and the FD were cooking fish tonight so I did not have to bring John anything for dinner. I drove over to visit with him then went by Bob and Marcy’s and played a round of 10 Penny.

Tomorrow will probably be another busy day.

Remember to laugh everyday. Happy Trails. Stay safe.

Garage Sale Today.

John is scheduled to work at the mall today from 3 to 11. :( We began our day with the alarm clock going off at 5:30 a.m. It is garage sale day!!! John had advertised the sale to begin at 7:00 a.m. but the customers started coming earlier. Annie, Bo and Kay came over to help out with the garage sale hoping to get rid of some of their things that were in the garage from our last garage sale. Lots and lots of people came thru and we did get rid quite a bit of stuff. By the end of the garage sale John had also sold one of our bedroom suits and the China cabinet. Way to go John!! Bo, Kay and Annie helped John and I load up the remaining stuff from the garage sale and Bo took it to the local Good Will store. By this time it was lunchtime and you know we couldn’t go without lunch so we agreed on Alumni House. John and Bo ordered burgers, Kay ordered the chicken salad sandwich and I chose the grilled blackened chicken salad. Of course John had to order some fried dill pickles for our appetizer. Everything tasted great. After lunch it was back to house so John could grab a quick nap before heading to work a the mall.

Happy Anniversary Bob & Marcy

Today is Bob and Marcy's 51st wedding anniversary. They both had free meal tickets and casino money to spend so off they went to the Silver Star Casino to celebrate. Happy Anniversary Bob and Marcy.

John off today. :) Marc Moore came by this morning to measure the cabinets in the camper to see what would be needed for the pull out shelves.

Later Robert came by to pick up some more things from the house. Afterwards Robert, John and I went to Roma’s for lunch. Roma’s is a local family owned brick oven cafe that serves mostly Italian food. Robert and John ordered the Roma Burger and I chose the lunch special of blackened tilapia, grilled vegetables and risotto. A few minutes after ordering the waitress came back to the table to inform Robert and John that they were out of the meat for the Roma burgers. They were disappointed because they had their minds set on burgers. Robert changed his order to the tilapia and John decided on manicotti and a salad. The service and food was good.

John finally made it to the barber shop to get his hair cut today. He has been trying to get there all week but circumstances have not allowed it.

I spent the rest of the afternoon getting things ready for tomorrow’s garage sale while John started pricing the furniture that will be sold. It has been an exhausting day.

The Stinky Fish Pond.

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :(  I met John and my sister Annie for lunch today.  We decided on a local Chinese restaurant.  The funny thing is I don’t remember the real name of the restaurant because we have always called it “The Stinky Fish Pond”.  I know that sounds awful but the food is really good.  Of course, there is a story behind it.  Back when my friend Kay was taking chemo treatments and her appetite wasn’t good this was the food she could eat.  The reason we called it “The Stinky Fish Pond” is because of a coy fish pond you have to pass when you come in the front door.  It really was stinky.  LOL

This afternoon I was contacted by the appraiser for the buyer.  He came by around 4:00 p.m. and performed his appraisal.  I guess we will hear from that in a day or two.

Tonight was ladies night out at our house.  My sister Annie, my friends Amy and Kay and myself snacked on chicken nuggets, corn nuggets, fruit salad and crescent rolls while watching “The Accidental Husband”.  It is a good chick flick.  It was fun catching up on all the news.  We get together whenever we can and always have a great time.

John off today….Not!!

John was supposed to be off today but got called in to work at the mall from 3 to 11.  :(  Before he went to work he finished making some of the repairs from the home inspection list.

I spent my day going thru stuff and dividing it into keep, throw away and garage sale stacks.  What a way to spend the day!!  We plan to have a garage sale this Saturday so maybe alot of it will be gone. :)

John received a call from our realtor a little while ago saying the buyer has agreed to the repairs John is going to make from the home inspection list.  Well, that was one more hurdle.  Now we wait for the appraisal.  Hope that goes well.

Remember to laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

Birthday Cake

John off today. :) He was very busy running errands this morning but returned in time for us to meet my friends and former coworkers Kay, Amy and Mike for my birthday lunch.

After lunch John had to report to the courthouse for jury duty. He was gone a couple of hours then returned home.  He was not in the group that was chosen which is a good thing since we have lots of things to do with the house.  Later in the afternoon the realtor called to let us know he had the results from the home inspection.  Tomorrow John will be taking care of some of the items on the list.

Tonight Bob, Marcy and Annie came over to have birthday cake. We ended up playing a round of 10 Penny.  My sister came in last and I was right behind her. LOL

Home Inspection Today

John at the FD for a 24 hour shift today. :( He has to report for jury duty tomorrow. Fun Fun!!

I spent the morning continuing to get rid of stuff. Around lunch time I got to a stopping point. It was time for a much needed break. The home inspection was this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. We have not heard anything from them but I am sure we will shortly.

Since Dawg was cooking at the FD tonight John did not need me to bring him anything so I met my sister Annie at McAllisters Deli for dinner. We both ordered a bread bowl of soup and their famous sweet tea. It was just right for the cool weather that has moved in. The weatherman said there is a possibility of snow flurries tonight. I will believe it when I see it. LOL
