Up early this morning and off to Tucson to meet with Mississippi friends Kae and Alan for breakfast. We ate at a place called Jerry Bob’s, a small diner type place. It was good to see them and catch up.
After breakfast John and I ventured over to the Saguaro National Park to check it out. There was so much to look at. It is hard to believe that the Saguaros grow so slowly. It takes one about 50 years to reach seven feet and 75 years to sprout its branches. Saguaros that live 150 years or more can tower 50 feet and weigh 16,000 pounds. Very interesting stuff. They are awesome to look at along with all the other cacti. We enjoyed our ride through the park and taking pictures.
Saguaro Cactus
Barrel Cactus
Teddy Bear Cholla
Ocotillo
Gee I really do look like a midget up next to this tall guy. LOL
Prickly Pear (John was able to get the squirrel in the picture before he ran off)
John way up there on the rocks.
Saguaro everywhere you look.
It was around 2:00 p.m. when we left the park so we were really hungry. We stopped off at Tiny’s Family Restaurant. The atmosphere reminded me of McB’s back home. Very good food and A+ on service. John had steak and I had a burger and as usual I forgot to take a picture.
Tomorrow will be travel day for us. Our destination will be Camp Verde.
Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.
Organ Pipe National Monument is a really neat place, but it might be close due to the illegal drug traffic going on there...It is South of Ajo, AZ
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that! Can't wait until we can travel in that direction. Stay safe and keep sending pictures.
