Today our friend Joe Klaas is celebrating a birthday. We hope he had a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday Joe.
We experienced 25 mile an hour winds today. Other than that the temperature was great with the high in the low 80s. Very nice. After lunch we decided to take a 40 minute drive over to the town of Oatman. Oatman was once a gold mining center. The merchants in the town have endeavored to keep it as authentic as possible. When you drive through it is like stepping back in time. Burros walk freely throughout the town and they also have a mock old West gunfight. The town has several restaurants and shops and also, it’s own post office.
John taking a look at the scenery with the binoculars.
We were greeted by a donkey or burro upon arrival to Oatman. They don’t get in a hurry to move out of the way. LOL
We went in and looked around in a few shops and walked down both sides of the street….which was basically the town. After our visit to Oatman we rode through some of the back roads to check out the scenery.
John spotted these donkeys just in time for me to snap a picture. If you look to the center then left you can see them.
Here they are again. One on the left side and the other one walking down the hill on the right.
Tomorrow will be a travel day for us. We will be traveling on to Pahrump, NV.
Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.
OMG...We were at Oatman...There is a hotel there that is the one Clark Gable and Carole Lombard stayed on their honeymoon..(you have no idea who the are, I am sure)...You couldn't go in the room, but you could look through a glass window into it...Yep, we fed the goats too...Oatman is on old Rt. 66...Loved Bullhead City too...Thanks for taking us back!!!!
