How many men does it take to park a 5th wheel?

It doesn't take much to entertain us.   This afternoon while John and I were visiting with Steve and Jannel at their site several RVers were driving through picking out a place to park.  That doesn't seem like entertainment but it sure ended up that way. The first RV to park was a motorhome.  Since we were all standing outside and right across the street, we had a front row seat.  The man in the motorhome kept backing and backed completely off the site and backed over the water faucet then pulled it forward as he pulled back up onto the pad.  After that he kept moving back and forth and eventually parked.  While he and his wife were checking out the damage and finishing setting up a man in a fifth wheel drove by and stopped to check out the site next to the motorhome.  This site is directly across from Steve and Jannel's.  The man rolled down his window and Jannel asked if she needed to move their truck to give him extra room to park.  The man said it was his second time to park his fifth wheel but felt like he had enough room.  Jannel moved the truck anyway.  It was a good thing too because this guy was real nervous and scary to watch.   After pulling up and back a few times he drove off and we all thought we was looking for another site but a couple minutes later he returned facing the opposite direction.  John and Steve noticed he was having difficulty backing into the site and went over to help him out.  I lost count of how many times of backing in and out of the site it took before it was parked. After about 30 minutes and a small crowd of RVers looking on he was finally on the site and John and Steve came back across the street.  But wait......it was not over.   Our fellow RV friend Roy who was standing there talking to us noticed the man had the truck parked at a odd angle and probably wasn't going to be able to unhook the truck.  He walked over to see if he needed some help and was handed their little white dog.  Roy, holding the little dog, looks over at us, raised the little dog up and motioned as if to say, "what?"  It was too funny.  Eventually Roy helped the man get the truck situated so he could unhook.   The crowd dispersed and the entertainment was over.  See....it doesn't take much to entertain us.  I had my camera and should have taken pictures but that might have offended someone so I behaved myself.  So I guess it took four men to park a fifth wheel today.

Tomorrow we are driving to Carthage, MO to meet our friends, Barb, Bob, Ginger and Jesse for lunch. It will be great to see them all again.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. When I was a kid...my Dad always made sure we were parked and set up BEFORE most of the other campers...and we always left on Tuesday....that way no one could laugh at US...but we could have a show and laugh at THEM....good times!!!

  2. I warms the cockles of my heart to see a couple having "words" and some unique hand signals parking their rigs..This makes me know that MacGyver and I are not the only ones...Just for the record, if it was up to me to park our Hiker, I would opt for a pull through..
