We were up early and on the road by 8:46 this morning. Less than 20 miles down the road I turned to John and said, “I smell smoke, I see smoke.” We were traveling through one of the small towns and were lucky there was a place big enough for us to pull over. John jumped out and lifts the hood. The area under the hood looked like a water canon had exploded. John got his tools out and discovered the plastic "T" from the coolant reservoir to the lower radiator head was broken off. That little silver Vitara sure did come in handy today. Fred and I stayed with the truck while John went for parts. John had to go to several places to get the part. It actually took longer to get the part than to fix it. Back home this part can be found at just about any local store. He had us up and running in no time. As Joe Pitman would say, “He’s handier than a pocket on a shirt.”
The rest of our trip was uneventful and we made it to Wapakoneta, OH around 6:00 p.m. I am happy to say we have 50 AMP. Yeah!!!!

Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.
Glad it was a quick fix. Good to hear you are enjoying your summer. Hugs, and a big sloppy kiss for Fred.
ReplyDeleteIf I was broke down anywhere...John is the guy I would like to have as my companion! $1,000 later I would have had that fixed too. I have all these tools and I don't know how to use them...LOL
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a Mr. Fix-it as a traveling companion! Emma and I would both be useless in a situation like that. :)
ReplyDeleteDennis and John sound sooo much alike..except Dennis has absolutely NO musical ability...nope, none!
