Ouch.... a screw and a plate!

Our day started out early at the surgeon's office.  John got the news he did not want...surgery.  The doctor said the ring finger and knuckle on his right had needed to be put back in place and that it was a spiral fracture.  They were able to schedule his surgery for 1:30 this afternoon but as anyone knows who has had surgery, it never happens on time.

Here is John waiting.
And waiting some more.  He couldn't get comfortable with the hand up or down.

After waiting all day they finally took him to surgery at 4:06 p.m.  During the surgery Annie came by to sit with me.  I really appreciated her company. The surgery lasted about an hour.  When the doctor came out he said he had to put in a screw and a plate to adequately repair the hand.

When John woke up he was in lots of pain.  We finally made it home around 8:00 p.m.

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and prayers.  They are greatly appreciated.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. John does NOT look happy...do not blame him...Buy, hey, better to get it repaired near home where family is near..Then when he gets ready for the road, he will be 100% and you two/three can start exploring again!
