Carter’s Retirement Party

Tonight we attended the retirement party for Assistant Chief Carter Hill of the Ridgeland Fire Department.  The party was held at Mama Hamil’s Restaurant.   Hamil’s is a true Southern cooking buffet with a large variety of vegetables, salads, meats and desserts. This is one place you must try if you are ever in the Madison, Mississippi area.

Carter is retiring after 31 years of service to the department.  He was presented with a beautiful plaque designed by fire fighter Marc Moore.  The plaque is a perfect showcase for the accomplishments of his career.  I know he will treasure it as much as John treasures his. We wish Carter all the best on his retirement journey.

After attending the retirement party we went over to Bob and Marcy’s for movie night.  Tonight’s choice was Grand Torino.  We had seen it before and thought Dad would enjoy it since he is a Clint Eastwood fan.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. Thirty-one years on the department...How do you assimilate into normal life after that? Dennis retired after 25 years, and he still misses it..but he lives vicariously through our son, who is on the Oswego, IL Fire Department.. It stays in your blood like part of the plasma...
