Busy Day

John off today. :)  He got up early and took the truck to get the tires rotated and balanced.   While he was gone I ran into town to pick up some last minute prescriptions and other items from Wal-mart.  Oh Yeah…..duct tape was on the list. LOL

John met Marcy, Bob, Annie and I for lunch at Piccadilly.  From there John went to pick up a riding lawn mower that Robert bought from firefighter Matt Jenkins.  After John picked up the mower he met me at Bob and Marcy’s and we went to purchase a bike rack and a helmet.  At 3:30 p.m. we had our final appointment with the attorney’s office for paperwork then it was on to Robert’s house to drop off the mower.  I followed John in the loaner car as we were returning it after leaving Robert’s.  I was following John out of Robert’s subdivision and suddenly the car accelerated all by itself.  It took everything I had to keep the brake down to stop the car.  I am so thankful I avoided hitting anyone.  I was freaked out!  It was as if a demon had possessed the car. LOL   I called John on the cell phone and told him something was wrong.  Luckily there was a Shell service station right up the road and I was able to pull over quickly.  John looked at the car and determined that there was a problem with the throttle.  He drove the car the rest of the way and I followed in the truck.

We finally made it back to the camper around 7:30 p.m.   John will work his last shift at the FD tomorrow.

Remember to laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  1. CONGRATULATIONS! John it is so great hearing you're on the last day. What a great day for you. We're hoping to see you guys soon. It will take maybe a day or two to get used to the whole idea you don't have to go to work. Have fun!

  2. One more shift, Have him take a strap tee shirt and sew up the fly of a pair of boxers and let him walk out the door the way he came in, Whe Sam retired he left all his uniforms and equipment, in his old locker and gave the key to his Captain and said,I didn't have any of this stuff when I hired on and now I won't need any of it again. Good Luck John, Hope you don't get bored like Sam, he is working a retirement job. Be Safe out there, Sam & Donna.

  3. John, congratulations on reaching your final day. I'm sure it feels like a long time coming, and yet it probably came faster than expected at the same time. I'm glad to hear things have fallen into place so well for you two. See you down the road!
