Just chilling out.

Another sunny warm day here in Linn Valley.  Not much going on today.  We just chilled out at home and caught up on household chores. I guess you could say today was a lazy day.  Even Fred was lazy.

Tomorrow we will make a Wal-mart run for groceries.  You know that is always fun. LOL

Bodark (Osage-Orange) Trees

The weather was nice today; sunny skies and warm temperatures.  A good day for a long walk so……off we went.

As we walked through the park we noticed lots of odd looking trees with green balls on them and on the ground.  John said they are bodark trees or Osage-orange trees.  When we got back from our walk I had to look that up on the internet.  I was amazed to read that today the fruit is sometimes used to deter spiders, cockroaches, box elder bugs, crickets, fleas, and other arthropods.  Hey, I am for anything that can deter a cockroach.  Can’t stand the nasty things. LOL

A ball or  “the fruit” from the tree.  The green balls are so hard they could give you a concussion if they hit you on the head. LOL

Look who showed up today….that pesty sock monkey.

I guess he escaped from the cabinet. LOL

Linn Valley, KS

John got up early and caught a ride over to the truck shop to pick up the Freightliner. Yeah!! Thank you Earl for giving John a ride this morning.

We were on the road before 11:00. The trip today was uneventful and we made it to Linn Valley, KS around 4:15. Of course we had to make a grocery run after getting set up.

Our site.

We saw several deer while walking around the park.

This deer stopped to look at us.

Truck repairs completed.

Received the call today saying that the repairs to the truck will be completed by the end of the day. Wooohooooo!!! That is good news.

On our walk around the park this afternoon we noticed a group of workampers clearing fallen trees and limbs from an area that used to be a creek. One of the workers said they were clearing the creek out to get ready for when the rains fill it up again. It has been a while since this area has had any substantial rain.

This is one of the ponds that have dried up.

This is the area they were clearing off.

After leaving this area we journeyed on up to the front to see if the frogs and turtles were out.

The all jumped off when they heard us approach. Darn!

Look….that frog is almost as big as that turtle.

Got a picture of this one before he jumped.

John saw this one hiding in the grass…..and….

For dinner tonight I made salmon patties, angel hair pasta with diced tomatoes and garlic and a garden salad.

I actually remembered to take a picture.

The plan for tomorrow is to pick up the truck then head out to Linn Valley, KS.

Truck part is in.

Got word today that the part for the truck is here.  Yeah!!! Finally.  It might be ready Wednesday.  That would be really nice.

We took our daily walk this afternoon.  I wanted to see if I could get pictures of the turtles at the front of the park.  They hang out sunning on a platform in the pond but jump off whenever you get close.  I guess they don’t want their picture taken. LOL

RSCN5837

There were a couple that did not jump.

Of course there were lots of frogs again today.

Don’t you just love nature?  I would hate to step on one of these at night.  That would be really gross.

Ava Grace Hatch

Robert called today and told us they have decided to name the baby Ava Grace Hatch.  They are both very excited and are getting things ready at home for the new arrival.  We can’t wait to see them.

Woke up to the sound of RVs leaving.  All our neighbors left today so we are alone on our end of the row.   We went over to say goodbye to our neighbors Don and Donna before they left.  We enjoyed meeting them and visiting with them.  Hope to see them again down the road sometime.

Today was Fred’s lucky day.  John gave him a much needed bath.  As usual Fred rolled around on the floor for a few minutes afterwards.

DSCN5809

Look at me don’t I look clean. LOL

Later this afternoon John and I went on our daily walk.  We took a different route today and took more pictures.

The scenery along the way.  Don’t know why I took this picture.  I guess I thought it was interesting.

As we walked closer to this bridge we noticed large frogs sitting at the end at the waters edge.  I wanted a picture of a big frog so I walked out slowly hoping the last one would not jump before I got the picture.

DSCN5800

RSCN5803

I snapped the picture just before it saw me and jumped into the water. All the frogs here are huge.

DSCN5805

Ok, we scared off all frogs so back across the bridge we go.

This used to be the old swimming area.

Hope UPS delivers the truck part tomorrow…..that would really be nice.

Walter Plant

Another warm sunny day today.  I am really liking this weather.  We slept in  a little late this morning, even Fred.  I think he is getting lazy in his old age. LOL

Tonight the park hosted a fall fest dinner  complete with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, and dessert.  Afterwards we were entertained by Walter Plant,  a blind pianist from Carrigan, TX.  Very very talented.  We enjoyed it very much.
