Rainy Day with cooler temperatures.

It has been raining on and off all day today. The good thing is the temperatures have been in the low to mid 70’s. We are liking that. Most of the morning was spent indoors due to the rain. Fred and Sock Monkey were lazy and held down the couch. LOL

005After lunch John and I ventured out to Wal-Mart to get our monthly prescriptions filled. Not my favorite chore as me and the Wal-Mart pharmacy usually do not get along. LOL We dropped them off and will pick them up later tonight. While in Wal-Mart John was in search of a certain type of container for his homemade detergent but did not find it. So…….off to the dollar store we went then on to K-Mart where he found a container. Yeah!!!

Powdered Laundry Detergent

1 cup grated Fels Naptha Soap

1/2 cup washing soda

1/2 cup 20 mule team borax

Mix and store in airtight container or bag. For light or small loads, use 1 tablespoon. For normal loads, use 2 tablespoons. For heavy loads, use 3 tablespoons. Cost per load .015.

To make a large batch - grate 6 bars of Fels Naptha Soap and then add 3 cups of Washing Soda and 3 cups of 20 Mule Team Borax. Mix well and store in covered container.

Our next stop was the farmers market where we purchased fresh corn on the cob, green beans, potatoes and cantaloupe.

By the time we got back to the camper it was time to cook dinner. Tonight we had corn on the cob, taters and onions, green beans and marinated baked chicken breasts. The corn was very sweet. It is the best we have had on the road so far.

Later on Fred and I walked to the front of the campground so I could get a picture of the homemade Ohio sign across the street. I thought it was a unique conversation piece.

Now that’s a way to recycle old tires. I think the middle part is made of wood. At least the colors are patriotic.

Laugh everyday. Happy trails. Stay safe.

  2. Homemade detergent? Is that a code for something more exciting? ;)

So how did you cook that delicious looking chicken? You could see how moist it was through the screen!
