Moon Rise Program at Chimney Rock.

The rain is gone! Yeah!!! The gang met at Mike and Leslie’s for our BBQ rib lunch. Everyone brought their ribs. We also had potato salad, baked beans, jello salad, deviled eggs, garlic bread and brownies. We enjoyed the delicious meal while sitting outside in the sunshine.

Just look at all that food. Yum Yum!

Tonight the gang had tickets to attend the Moon Rise Program at Chimney Rock. We arrived early because we would be hiking up the mountainside to get to the program site. This is the sign at the entrance to the Chimney Rock area.

Before the program the gang stopped off at the gift shop.

While waiting to go up to hiking area John took a few pictures of some birds that were hanging out around the gift shop.

Around 5:45 p.m the Chimney Rock volunteers directed everyone to get in their vehicles for the short drive to the hiking site.

The following pictures are how the sky looked as the moon started to rise. The two pictures are the sunsetting.

This was one of the most awesome experiences we have ever experienced. The winds were lightly blowing on top of the mountain while Charles Martinez played the Native American Flute then the moon suddenly appears on the horizon. It was just awesome. The hike was steep but the journey was well worth it. The program was concluded just as it was getting dark. There were volunteers and lanterns to aid everyone as they descended the mountain.

After the program the gang returned to the campground and settled in for some 10 Penny. Mike won the first round and Leslie and I tied on the second. It was around midnight when we all decided to call it a night.
